Emirates Seating Guide

A380

First:
  1. Solo travelers: some say row 4 is loud from the galley behind, while row 1 may be a bit more cramped than other rows. Most suggest rows 2 or 3, seats A or K.
  2. Couple: E/F seats in rows 1-3 are all fairly similar.
Business:
  1. General: the mini cabin at the back has a more secluded feel, though some comment that there is noise from the bar beyond row 23.
  2. Solo travelers: most prefer seats A and K (solo seats on sides with windows).
  3. Couple: aim for seats E/F to be closer together.
Economy:
  1. General comments: upgrade if at all possible!

777

First:
  1. Solo travelers: Row 1, especially 1a and 1k, is the worst because of galley and lavatory right in front. Noisy and high traffic. Not much difference between row 1 and 2 in terms of space on the 77w for k or a seats.
  2. Couple: there is not really any difference between row 1 and 2 for e and f seats except 1 is near the galley and 2 is near row 6 in j where there may be children
Business:
  1. General: There is limited direct aisle access as the configuration is 2-3-2. The rear J cabin will have Y pax move through on boarding.
  2. Solo travelers:
  3. Couple: 7 j and k are great if you don't mind the missing window. It's in the private mini cabin - a great choice unless you like window gazing. You also don't get y traffic passing through this cabin as you turn left on entry!
Economy:
  1. General comments: Y on the 777 is for slim people.

Accidents. What about wing cracks? Can't be good. And furthermore, I was a senior executive with the Civil Aviation Authority, so I might know the teeniest thing about aircraft. For example, the B777 is one of the very safest in the skies, because it is a good deign and well screwed together.

But who cares?
Think it really depends on the outstation and how early you get there to get exit rows - as with all things EK, consistency isn't really the strong point. Getting there at 1 hr before check-in, no offers, but 2.5 hours yes. Some outsource companies have staff who don't care at all. Let's not talk about DXB - generally perfunctory, they do no more and no less than what's required.

I'm more inclined to think that the B777 was an anomaly with its excellent service record considering that the A380 had the engine explosion and wing cracks only a few years into service, and the debacle with B787 battery fires a year in!

I just don't think that more people on the plane is going to make it more likely to fall out of the sky, only that if and when something happens, it's probably going to have more fatalities...

My general comments on flying in Y on an A380:

1. If the flight will be full, sit towards the front - it's somewhat cozy there, the views out the window are great (wings are behind you), higher concentration of restrooms, and you are the first to leave the aircraft.
2. If the flight is likely to not be full, sit towards the back for a chance of having nobody next to you.
3. Due to aircraft shape, window seats give you more elbow space than other aircraft.

So I recently flew EK 777 RT LGW-DXB-PER and saw that not every seat in Y has a power outlet. Every seat does however have a usb power outlet.
The odd thing is, sometimes its the aisle seat, sometimes its the window seat that doesnt have the power outlet, does anyone know if I can find a seat map of which seats have a power outlet and which don't?

On the A380 with the staggered seats - the window seat does have enough room to access the aisle without disturbing the aisle seat passenger, right? Otherwise I'm going to have to select an aisle seat....

On J (&F) on the A380, every seat has aisle access, including the window seats. There is no question of jumping over/ disturbing another pax to use the aisle.

That's what I thought from the seat map, just wanted to confirm. Thanks

For EK148 you'll be right at the front of the (large) cabin, in the middle couples seat. YMMV whether you find this irritating or not, considering that the toilets are right at the back of the cabin by the bar and whether you will be using the bar a ornot.

On EK359, you have a standard window couple seat. Nothing really much to comment about it

Am traveling with my infant (18 mo) without the Mrs. in J later this month. On 777-ER (sea-dxb) and returning on a380 (dxb-lax). Dxb-maa in 777.

Can someone suggest the best J seats in these for a single parent with a lap-infant?
I am guessing an aisle seat on the 777 is a better option - in case the middle seat goes empty i can put the kid down if/when shes asleep.

Any other thots/suggestions? Thanks

On the 777 - yes, I'd agree with you, one of the aisle seats would be best.

On the A380 - depends on how often you want to go to the lavatories, as they are at the back. Perhaps towards the back might be better as you are travelling with an infant

Would someone know whether the armrests in the 380 Y bassinet row middle seats (D/E/F/G) are moveable or not?
