Accidents. What about wing cracks? Can't be good. And furthermore, I was a senior executive with the Civil Aviation Authority, so I might know the teeniest thing about aircraft. For example, the B777 is one of the very safest in the skies, because it is a good deign and well screwed together.
But who cares?
Think it really depends on the outstation and how early you get there to get exit rows - as with all things EK, consistency isn't really the strong point. Getting there at 1 hr before check-in, no offers, but 2.5 hours yes. Some outsource companies have staff who don't care at all. Let's not talk about DXB - generally perfunctory, they do no more and no less than what's required.
I'm more inclined to think that the B777 was an anomaly with its excellent service record considering that the A380 had the engine explosion and wing cracks only a few years into service, and the debacle with B787 battery fires a year in!
I just don't think that more people on the plane is going to make it more likely to fall out of the sky, only that if and when something happens, it's probably going to have more fatalities...
