Emirates Seating Guide

A380

First:
  1. Solo travelers: some say row 4 is loud from the galley behind, while row 1 may be a bit more cramped than other rows. Most suggest rows 2 or 3, seats A or K.
  2. Couple: E/F seats in rows 1-3 are all fairly similar.
Business:
  1. General: the mini cabin at the back has a more secluded feel, though some comment that there is noise from the bar beyond row 23.
  2. Solo travelers: most prefer seats A and K (solo seats on sides with windows).
  3. Couple: aim for seats E/F to be closer together.
Economy:
  1. General comments: upgrade if at all possible!

777

First:
  1. Solo travelers: Row 1, especially 1a and 1k, is the worst because of galley and lavatory right in front. Noisy and high traffic. Not much difference between row 1 and 2 in terms of space on the 77w for k or a seats.
  2. Couple: there is not really any difference between row 1 and 2 for e and f seats except 1 is near the galley and 2 is near row 6 in j where there may be children
Business:
  1. General: There is limited direct aisle access as the configuration is 2-3-2. The rear J cabin will have Y pax move through on boarding.
  2. Solo travelers:
  3. Couple: 7 j and k are great if you don't mind the missing window. It's in the private mini cabin - a great choice unless you like window gazing. You also don't get y traffic passing through this cabin as you turn left on entry!
Economy:
  1. General comments: Y on the 777 is for slim people.

Got to say after just flown on an A380 & 77W in First, I think the suite on the 77W was better. 2K on both flights. 77W felt more spacious. The suite walls definitely higher and the TV seemed bigger (A6-EGY). One previous experience of F class on a 77W and would say the suites were better/more spacious, YMMV.

Thanks Pacman3 and Edgewood49 - good to know the inside suites feel larger. I am travelling with my DH so no worries about my next door neighbour!

With the excellent cognac served on EK, I have no trouble seeing 'stars' within 4 hours into the flight (day or night), wherever I sit on the aircraft, Edgewood!

I travelled on a6 eub 80th a380 with new ife - the suites also seem a little roomier and have nice stars (like the ceiling) in the carpet.

EK701 is regularly a 3 class while EK701 seems to generally be a 2 class aircraft with limited exceptions. How far away is your flight?
Late October. My ad blocker may be preventing the page from loading correctly. I'll check with a different browser.

you simply scroll down to the next page and the upper deck appears providing you are booked in F/J

SeatGuru incorrectly stated the DXB-MRU segments are operated on a 2-class A380 with Y on both decks. I believed it because Y started on Row 41 instead of Row 43.

It appears the DXB-MRU flights are on a 3-class A380 which has Y starting at Row 41.

One of two flights to MRU is a two class 380 with Y on upperdeck (I guess until September)

41/43 depends on 380 type (how many total seats, 401, 429 etc)

Me, my wife and 15 year old daughter are flying DFW to DXB to HKG in August, with EK. I have 2 award seats in First (couldnt get three) and one paid business seat. Daughter wil be in business. Im wondering if the FAs will allow me to switch seats with my daughter for lets say a few hours. So I can give her also the EK First experience 😉 Any thoughts?

Can't speak for your flight but in the past I have been able to do the same. Suggestion when you board ask the Purser introduce your daughter. Oh, about four days out including the day of flight keep checking FC 'I have had it open on the last day out of CPT to DXB FC

There's every chance that switching and then switching back mid-flight will be frowned upon/not permitted.

Switching at the beginning of the flight for the entire flight is rarely a problem.

Why not just give your daughter the whole DXB-HKG flight?

I know switching between Y & J is not allowed and is frowned upon. Don't know about J & F. I have seen F passengers come in J and take seats next to their friends to chat & go back. But not sure about the other way (J to F)

I think as long as your daughter is not availing the F service, you should be good. So basically, switch between meals. But if she uses the shower or requests for "On demand" F class food, then that probably won't be allowed. The FAs could even object if she decides to sleep in F on a J ticket.

EY actually advertises that you can invite a friend from J to join you for dinner in the apartment I believe. That's the most explicit airline policy on such a matter I believe.
