Sorry, not going to make it to Hopfest. We're at the other end of town at JBR, and the traffic has been a nightmare the 2 nights we've been here. It would probably take an hour each way.

If Carlsberg did airports...
Just got to DXB and it was like one of those promo videos. Not a soul in the F & J check in area, BPs collected in less than 60 seconds. Nobody at immigration or security, so through in a couple of minutes.
Flight is from A gates, but we wanted to try out the champagne bar in the BJ lounge. Followed the directions from on here, and were greeted by a very friendly Indian guy (I assume it's the same person that has been mention).
From drop off to first sip must have been a maximum of 15 minutes

Was this in the middle of the day? In my student days I once had a 17h layover with no visa or lounge access, just chilling in the terminal, pretending I was Tom Hanks. Around 11am it was awesomely quiet, and management staff were walking through inspecting stuff and cleaning staff prepping everything for the next rush, it was amazing to see in a way.

Just booked QR fights from CPT to TXL next year , very good chance i would drop down to gold unless something pops up really unexpectedly - always get through somehow to retain Plat. However got a STPC in both directions within Doha , and just spoke to one of the most rudest and pathetic agents ( agent based in JNB) i have ever spoken to in my life - CS at QR does not seem to be very strong from first experiences. So guess EK is winning currently
