Good news on the new routes. I'm surprised (and glad) they didn't go the EY way of adding ORD next.

Yeah, they didn't annoounce it yet. Let's wait and see if EY can start more specific new route from AUH-IAD, IAH, DTW. MIA and etc. If they have enough aircraft available.

Also like to point out that the new Dallas flight is due to the stoppage of service on the early morning Houston flight (EK213/214) hence why the A/C is free! So Houston will go down to 7 weekly now. Not a surprise to me as I was watching half empty 77Ls depart to IAH even during peak season, strange for an EK flight! I also have a sneaky suspicion that this was a quick move to block EY from serving DFW, and will probably instigate EK213/214 flights in the next two years or so when demand increases and EK has the equipment!

Thanks

Another U.S. city will be announced shortly.

Love the mention of Philadelphia. To India, SE Asia and Africa this makes complete sense.

Now if they could only start a US based airline to operate widebodies on domestic routes.

Interesting to hear that....didn`t know the loads on EK 213/214 were so bad!!

Don't think I could manage the flight in Coach - with 10 across seating and 17.0" pitch. (As much as people complain about US airlines - at least they only have 9 across on 777 aircraft.)

I think you're talking rubbish :) It's 32-34" pitch, which is pretty generous for Y. The seats are slightly narrower, but most of the saving is from the narrower aisles.

Cheers,
Rick

I think the timing is good. They can leave from DXB at 3am and it will expecting to arrival in DFW around 9am. I think there is possibility to bring more connectivity flight through DFW.

How about ORD, IAD, PHL, BOS or ATL.

And who, in the US, would pay a premium for this? Not enough people to actually fill a widebody unfortunately.

jarino Sep 29, 2011 2:53 am

The second daily to IAH is cancelled for the rest of the winter schedule when the DFW service starts. It's still available for the summer schedule, but if it really starts again with the summer schedule remains to be seen.

After CO ended the agreement with EK, it's probably more difficult to fill the IAH flights. Probably AA offers some connectivity through DFW. As they do not fly to the gulf region, competition issues might less obvious compared to UA/CO and DL who all ended their partnership with EK.
