confirms also Nov 1, 2011 dxb-led, now I'm waiting for kbp to also be announced perhaps at latest March 29, 2012, as fly dubai is also running that route, there might be some delay in Ek's announcement for those routes, if there's a lot of uefa money to be made perhaps EK will jump in" it ain't over until the fat lady sings".:p

confirms it's two separate flights operated by b77w.

No it is one flight continuing on to EZE. That is what the EK website says and what the first few posts on the link you posted say. I didn't read the whole thing. Anyway, the airline would never start two concurrent routes with 77Ws on the same day.

Ah, shoots! I didn't see it by last 2 months ago. Thanks for your clarifications but, I did not realize know that. Is that EK will flies one-stop DXB-GIG-EZE instead of going to nonstop from DXB-EZE. The entire 77W does not have enough more range to reachable in EZE. Due to weight restrictions.

Chicago and Washington might be announced soon.

They're hiring sales managers amongst other staff for both locations on their careers website......

Sounds great! I see huge potential for both destinations: Washington has lots of business travelers (diplomats/international organizations) to the Middle East whereas Chicago has a large Indian community that will lead to rising load factors on the DXB-India routes.

By the way: What' in for Africa Emirates777? There is a huge demand for China-Africa flight especially to Zambia.

To all...

Not sure if you folks knew that the US FAA did an inspection of the UAE GCAA (its equivalent) back some months.

Most people here in Dubai at EK think the inspection is complete and passed. Well, I can tell you in fact, the inspection is complete BUT the results have NOT been announced yet! It is still entirely possible there is an issue yet to be resolved with the GCAA. And realize too, it's not an inspection at EK or EY, it's all of the UAE.

This may be why we haven't heard any new US routes lately. I know most of you realize the possibility of a "downgrade" is there from category 1 to 2 (Category 3 was done away with some time ago). If a country's aviation authority (GCAA or any other) gets downgraded, they can no longer add any NEW routes to cities in the US. This does not restrict them from adding to the current and existing routes already in the US... eg IAH and LAX went double daily back late last year shortly after this FAA inspection.

evidentally, the GCAA inspection might of/ (perhaps must of) passed, otherwise, how will emirates spend money on new staff at 2 locations?

likely-they'd not do that if they were in doubt they must of gotten SOME signal from FAA to go ahead and invest- granted if they're taking that risk to invest money like that-if their GCAA approval is pending- such can be a risk, that if the approval was not there- then the new staff will simply be requested to go to other locales.

But that's not a given, that such staff will agree to be relocated in case GCAA was downgraded.

More then likely it appears like 2 new USA destinations are indeed coming. Aside from that, I was wondering about some more like MIA and others which are up/coming/ and a380 compatible as well. If Lufthansa, and Air France are coming into various airports in USA with A380's can emirates be far behind?

where do you get 'one more city left to be announced..this year', where are you referring from- from eastern Europe? where from pray tell-When there is talk of 2 USA routes being added.

NOIR Jun 11, 2011 1:14 am

There should be more new routes because EK will be receiving much more new aircraft than usual this working year which ends in late March if I'm correct. They announced for the next three years they will put 90 new aircraft into the fleet which comes out to 30 aircraft a year. Some aircraft should add to the fleet, and maybe some will phase out older models.

EK are looking to add at least 8 380's, and 10-12 77W's this year, if not more, so do the math of potential new routes.

Actually, 3 or 4 A380 will come online sometimes in September 2011 through wintertime 2011/12. There is another 12 or 13 A380 will expect to deliveries in 2012 and another 5 A380 will expect to come in 1st quarter 2013.

I wish they'd add a second daily SFO flight with a Boeing 777-200LR, that way I can easily get to stay at a free Dubai hotel for a longer layover. I hear this is a very great airline.

Another question though. Does the A380 have the range to make it on DXB-SFO/LAX route?
