Right, it is indeed, if it's Rome vs London or Italy vs UK, and actually we got the A380 far later. BTW, Rome it's the most important city for almost everything in Italy, and above all, it's the most 'global', and with pretty good volumes of traffic.
FCO's been ranked #15 the world by international passenger traffic in 2010, and in 2011 it will have around 40 million pax. It's been keeping a stable growth over years - somehow unlinked to the poor economic trends of the Country. Almost half of its pax fly for business, and the leisure pax are somehow 'premium' if compared to a number of destinations around the world.
Well, FCO is far smaller than LHR but, all in all, has good KPIs.

I'm frankly outraged that KL has the A380 before SIN ;)

But then again, op-ups would be in the toilet as soon as we do get the big bird, due to the fact that Y capacity would increase by just under 150.

So, I take it back. We don't want it. There must be many other markets who should get them before us.

Forget I was here...

Here's the thing though. The A380 almost doubles F and J capacity while increasing Y capacity by only 33 - 50%. It would seem to me that adding a 380 would mean a lot of spare capacity could be created in premium cabins (which is completely non existent right now). It's actually going to be a lot worse when the 4th daily starts - too much capacity in Y.

Even MAN has got an A380... the top deck is used to transport the booze for the Mancs and Scousers on the lower deck.

No, it is full of folk from Yorkshire who want to avoid Birmingham or, even worse, London.

Why they shouldn't avoid BHX? I thought the route is doing extremely very well. There is no direct flight to Yorkshire. EK does not have served to Yorkshire. Only where EK has flies to LHR/LGW/BHX/GLA/MAN and no one anything else.

Possibly because BHX gets aircraft with old seats while MAN gets the 380. Bit of a chicken and egg situation though.

A little off topic, but people who know how much they like to keep their business, and expansion plans together this will be a great hint when reading between the lines.

The last paragraph is whats interesting, expanding the hotels in Boston, Chicago, Miami, and Washington. I'm sure things are looking a little clearer now. ;)

If Jumeirah decides to open a hotel in Lima does that mean EK will fly to Lima?

Not necessarily but they currently fly to all international Jumeriah destinations. However I don't see them ever going to the US Virgin Islands or British West Indies !!

Flying Emirates to Socotra from Dubai

Does Emirates have a flight from Dubai to Socotra these days? Does anyone know how to book that? Do you have to go through an agent.

You cannot fly direct to SCT from DXB, however you can fly DXB-SAH-SCT, bearing in mind the SAH-SCT sector is operated by either IY or FO.

Cheers,

Have you heard of any plans for EK to fly the A380 to LBA (Sir Jimmy Savile International)?
