Is the A380 technically capable of doing nonstop to GRU? If so any chance of such a deployment next year?

Emirates 777 already mentioned in a previous post Oct 24, 2010 his post # 15:

the next batch of a380-800's will be ULR models and will likely have all the bugs ironed out of them.

I believe GRU does not have to installed double dual jetbridge yet. I don't think ever to brings A380 into GRU. I wasn't sure if EK is deployed the entire A380 service for European or USA. If EK will have best everything they can. If there is possible to brings A380 into GRU, if necessary. That won't be any problems at all.

JED does not have dual jetbridges. And there is a doubly daily A380 now.

bvms: see JED shows that with/without double airbridges still the runway is long enough, (and increasingly airports are lengthening the runway to prepare for it- and installing duel jet bridges too) if a380-800 can fly in and land, to enthuse and help, increasingly airports are happy to upgrade!

Updates on PVG?

Hi,

does anyone have new information about A380 operations to Shanghai? I remember that the initial plan was to start daily 380 service to PVG in January, however, due to outstanding approval they couldnīt do it.

All I know was that Emirates sent the A380 to London and now to Hongkong instead but only as a workaround?

I wonder whether Emirates is still in negotiations with Chinese authorities and Shanghai might see a change in equipment in March or April or whether Emirates gave up this plan and looks for another location?

Would be great if someone knows more about it. Thanks!

It was mentioned in posts 279/280 in this thread that the A380 would continue on the HKG direct route until 1st March (or earlier if approval was received). It now seems as if this has been extended to at least 26th March.

When is EK sending those A380's down to MEL? Surely if there is an over capacity they could axe a daily flight from the x3 Daily flights and make the direct flight A380 and let EY & QR handle the rest!

All x3 Daily flights are operated by 77W.

It's not as easy as that because most passengers are connecting onwards. The frequency is equally important.

Also, there are other markets with greater restrictions or better yields where the 380 makes better sense. Also, EK wouldn't be able to serve an Asian market from MEL then.

Considering the direct flight had the terrible 345 J seats till recently, I'd venture to guess it's not a top priority. Yet, I've heard rumors, so it will likely happen in due course.

emirates 777 previously said that there are no new deliveries of a380 in 2011 that have not already been allotted a route so far, (thus I'm not quite sure if dxb-mel-dxb are /not among the ones that have been allotted), thus dxb-mel-akl-mel-dxb will likely be upgraded to a380 in 2012. I await this also.:p

There are 12 A380 is expected to delivery in 2012. It should wait to being built more entire A380. I believe 3 more A380 will expected to delivered in 3rd & 4 quarter 2011. You should wait to see if EK will planned to deployed the entire A380 for DXB-MEL-DXB sometimes in the future. I think there is enough more profitability routes and the routes has been successful.

Ek 817/ 818 ruh

Starting from the last week of March, the two class config for flights to RUH will see a "downgrade" from F to J.

In the past, these J seats were sold as F (with all benefits of F, i.e. lounge, miles) but are now being sold as J.

From EK's perspective, why do they do that? The flight is always jam packed in that 2 class confiq with very high fares (AED 6400) for this 80mins flight, I am sure that profitability was high.

So would they give up the F class fare?

Wouldn't they be able to continue to charge the same fare, but ticket it as J instead. They don't need to give F lounge access and F miles that way, but earnings remain the same.
