Service to CPH and a 2nd daily flight to HAM (announced some weeks ago) sounds like a big increase in capacity. Many people from Denmark used to fly from HAM, so I wonder how the loadfactors will be in HAM, with the second flight and the service to CPH.

On Jan 17 every seat in economy, business, and first was full on EK201 DXB-JFK, and there were a bunch of anxious but ultimately disappointed people hoping to get on.

Hi.When are the standard 777 300's going?i flew on that a/c recently in economy..was a very cramped experience which resulted to me vowing never to fly on EK 777's again.I flew with Qatar airways and found it to be a much more pleasant experience.

QR001 Jan 21, 2011 7:49 pm

Im not being biased here against EK.in fact i have been very loyal to EK but im sorry to say that their level of service has been quite inconsistent.Im sure the people at EK are doing something about it though..we wouldnt want the masses flocking to the rivals QR would we?;)

Wow! Unbelievable!!! ^^The routes has been very successful and EK has done extremely performance very well. It was always oversold for everyday. I wasn't aware of EK will gets double daily on entire A380 from DXB-JFK-DXB? They will brings more passengers capacity on operating A380. It will guaranteed can do that for EK.

Emirates had granted a 10kg extra baggage allowance to economy class passengers. (AGENCIES)

By VM Sathish | Published Monday, January 24, 2011

The UAE’s Emirates airline will be withdrawing its 10kg extra baggage allowance for economy class passengers from February 1, 2011, the airline said in a notice to customers.

In the official communication dated January 23, 2011, Emirates said that the “extra baggage allowance of 10kg hitherto to economy class passengers on selected routes will be withdrawn with effect from February 1, 2011.”

Emirates had granted a 10kg extra baggage allowance to economy class passengers, especially to the Asian subcontinent, allowing a total baggage allowance of 40kg, plus the usual hand baggage allowance.

The airline said in the statement that passengers with tickets booked prior to February 1, 2011, would still get the old allowance, but that the new rule applies to both commercial passengers and Emirates airline staff.

The revised baggage allowance, as per the statement, is 30kg for economy class, 40kg for business class and 50kg for first-class passengers.

thankfully, old tickets booked prior to FEb 1, 2011 will still get the old baggage tarriff yet, Emirates 777, what's the policy now?

we all wonder how this reduction comes for skywards gold/silver members? we used to have 30kgs+12 (S) or 30+16(G), so after Feb 1, 2011 it's looking like 20+16 (G) all over again for new tickets. Apparently, ek strategy is to force people to buy Business class or force out the (y) class members. Also looks like the (y) classes flying middle eastern airlines will jump to Etihad/qatar etc.

You've posted yourself that the revised policy is 30kgs in Y. They've only got rid of the additional 10kgs for some destinations which had an allowance of 40 kgs in Y.

For a second there I was scared it was going down to 20kgs, but that isn't the case. It's still 30 + 12/16

What has that got to do with new routes?

eightblack Jan 24, 2011 9:04 pm

We might clean this thread up a little as its getting a little bloated. Technically, the thread title says new routes (and changes), so the post above is ok.

Give me a day or so to see how we might make this easier for everyone.

Cheers
