So as 2010 draws to a close, this is what appears to be discussed so far:

Fact -
- EK to start BSR
- EK to start GVA
- EK to start a regional destination with 4th daily to SIN

Speculation -
- the regional destination seems to be DPS
- GRU to go double daily
- EK will announce another european destination (hint: one tha has been in the offing for long)
- EK will announce new routes to south of equator (hint: to the least served continent. umm antartica excluded :D )

Happy new year and all good wishes......

Your european destination is WAW.

Now how do like those apple's ?

ek001 Dec 27, 2010 11:14 am

my conclusion: The new destination that will be south of the equator is not in brazil because brazil granted emirates airline 14 weekly slots and since GRU will go daily they will occupy all their slots so most probably the new destination is BOG or EZE .

DPS will most likely have a MEL/PER/SYD/BNE end destination.

So expect frequency increases down under. MEL will get the 380 as well.

Not if it's a continuing flight from SIN. And the new flight to SIN has a 3xx flight code which means it won't go to Australia.

Not so sure about the BOG destination unless it would come thru another city on it's way back to Dubai. Performance would take a big hit with the elevation of the airport there. Maybe thru Caracas CCS, or Panama City PTY?

FYI Brazil and UAE now have an open skies agreement.

GRU, along with SFO will be one of the 1st batch of routes to get upgraded to the lightweight longer-range A380 when they get delivered some-time in 2012.

ABZ is not going to happen- this would be a fringe route, and it would be far more profitable for Emirates to add a 2nd daily to GLA which is in the works.

Hi Emirates 777, do you think that Emirates would look at ABZ, rather than a second daily from GLA. I realise that it would be cheaper to double daily from GLA as the infastructure is already in place.

They have recently announced the final go-ahead for the runway extension at ABZ, still not sure what size of plane will be able to land once the extension is complete.

Quite sure there is a sizeable number of passengers using GLA that originate from the ABZ area with the oil business.

Anyway just a selfish thought, as would make my world far easier.

You are not incorrect. I believe there are a couple on the short-list for the tag-on, SUB is one them.

You are correct. Only JNB and DUR are A380 ready in South Africa.

And when oh when will they get rid of the crap 332 flying to Durban, i've stopped using emirates due to this plane not being up to standard.

what makes you so sure about the above? if you look in the early pages of this thread, waw was discounted as 1) too expensive airport fees and too expensive airline turbine fuel for re-fueling jets, 2) kbp was already chosen in eastern Europe. (see emirates 777 mention early in this thread and also in 2010 thread)

yet emirates 777 mentioned 2 more (unannounced) destinations for 2010 in eastern Europe in 2011-2012 emirates plans, and Tim Clark (Emirates President) mentioned that emirates could profitably fly to ST petersburg (led), so perhaps that's the other EE other then kbp that'll be mentioned.

No one doubts we'll all have to wait for the announcements, and little doubt is there that eventually WAW might be announced eventually in some years- still I wonder how you are so sure about WAW on the list?
