Thanks for the info. Regarding CPT upgrade to A380 i was referring to it being a possibility -- and remember not until sometime in 2012.

This is my first post on this forum. Not experienced enough on this forum but I read a lot.
Emirates777, have question to you as best informed person, is Warsaw or other Polish city on the list of cities to open soon by Emirates Airline? Is it any chance to have direct flights to Dubai?

bestregards
marcin

I haven't heard of any immediate plans for Poland but it will eventually join the network at some point in the future.

EK2010 Dec 17, 2010 3:41 pm

A while ago, it was stated in wiki ( and still is in dubai airport website) that emirates will be flying to Algiers by the 12th of dec....
Some reported it to be for 2010..... just wondering if this wasnt meant to be 12dec 2011. As we all know that ALG is short-listed for next year ??!!

I believe it will wait for announced in 2011/12. I thinking EK is considering to gets more specific new routes for DXB-MIA/IAD/ORD/LAS/PHX. I think EK has already deployed on entire A380 out DXB-JFK and is that already double daily on operated A380 lately? What I heard about EK routes for DXB-JFK is very successful and more profitability routes. The economy is improving enough. It should have to get better for everyday.

Kapitanleutnant, I am surely not the one who is knowledgeable about future destinations, Emirates777 is.

The UAE just signed an up dated open skies agreement with Portugal.

I posted this on the 2010 schedule, and just noticed there's a 2011 thread as well. Bare with me guy's, I'm new here, and don't know my way around yet.

Stansted?

What would be the odds of EK starting flights to STN?

I read an article back, when the airport was approved as an alternate for the 380, that the owners were petitioning heavily the EK powers that be to start a route there.

Apparently not. Because EK has already direct service LHR & LGW, too. I don't think ever EK is coming to STN. Because EK has already more tougher competitions against another carriers. Don't be sure EK is not considering to STN.

Will Emirates announce any more new Indian destinations this year or in 2011? Amritsar perhaps?? or maybe the upcoming Chandigarh International Airport?

Any additional expansion into India - additional seats, frequencies and new destinations is subject to a revision in the UAE (Dubai) - India air services agreement. The current agreement is maxed out. I believe talks are scheduled sometime towards the end of this year, but we have to wait and see what emerges. Now that FlyDubai is also operating, both EK and FZ's needs will need to be accomodated.

I don't think so as i have not heard anything new regarding India routes.

On a separate note, I believe discussions are ongoing for additional access into Northern Pakistan (ISB, LHE, PEW).

Much thanks! Kindly do let us know when the uae-India bilateral is announced-as you did mention it was "supposed to be at the end of 2010" so I hope the announcement will be sooner then later.

Perhaps because the airlines in the UAE are so closely tied to the government, so it seems reasonable to suspect that the government would pursue negotiations of such deals at the request of the airlines if the carriers have at least some passing interest in potentially serving the routes sometime in the foreseeable future? (Or perhaps carriers from the other country made the request of their government, and the UAE simply responded to that request.)

I don't know much about these types of agreements; I suppose it's possible that the government would spend its resources trying to negotiate open-skies agreements willy-nilly, regardless of any consideration of the potential for actual air traffic on the market, but I would assume that there is at least some loose relationship between the market demand the the government's efforts?
