I think the peeps at EK Ops and Route Management are playing games with us.
GDS and EK seem to be opposing a lot and airline route.net hasn't even put the Tunis changes out yet.

Rats! About 6 months after I need to go!

Not surprising but strange schedule for SGN. Must have something to do with aircraft availability 'cause most of the departures in the 2-3am wave head east don't they? Hence limited connectivity for SGN pax? I guess LON, FRA, CDG pax would be covered though.

LHR, LGW, MAN, FRA and CDG will have a short connection with the 3am departure bank, as will JNB, CPT, JFK, LAX, DFW and a couple of other Africa and regional flights. The rest will have to wait for about 7 hours for the morning departure bank. I presume EK will add some more Euro cities to the 3am bank, with DME, BHX, ZRH and MXP lined up for a third daily service.

But indeed, connectivity to other parts of the network is less than optimal. On the other hand, MNL, HKG, BKK, KUL and CGK all have similarly timed services, with arrival in the midnight bank and seemingly limited connectivity.

Perhaps the airport is closed during overnight hours? It could also be a scheduling issue.

I would assume its scheduling issues, 1 hour turn around for a 2-Class 77W is getting tight.
If the equipment was amiable I would assume it would follow the rough timings of the Guangzhou flight with a 2.5-4 hour wait for the morning Europe departure bank.

I am just surprised that we haven't heard any noise of it. Not once was SGN mentioned in the past 12 months (except by me on my wishlist)

Hi everyone
I'm new to this forum so request your patience if I ask any silly questions!
Am curious about this 2-class frame... do we expect an upgrade on another route as a result? Been hoping for CCU for 3 years now.... doing this route monthly and J is frankly an embarrassment!

Yes, I'd imagine a newly delivered 3-class 77W will replace a route with the 2-class 77W. The A330 will hopefully be retired.

In the past year an estimated 36,000 O&D passengers flew between Vietnam and the Middle East, with around 25,000 flying between the South East Asian country and Africa and a further 1.19 million with Europe, the latter figure up a notable 20.1 per cent on the previous 12 month period.

Looking at those figures I can see HAN as a new destination as well.

I could see HAN as a tag on to something else, but not as a stand alone terminator flight.

Speaking about tag ons, the new EK0354/0355 SIN roundtrip is currently scheduled to sit on the ground in SIN for 12 hours. Word is that EK will add a tag to this flight. For the longest time, DPS was the prime candidate to be this tag, but so far there has not been any confirmation. Alternatives would be HKT, CEB, SUB, MES or even HAN.

That would be great! I assumed the India bilateral caps might mean everything would stay as-is... any updates on the negotiations?

In my opinion I think HKT would be Emirates' first choice as a tag on due to the success with BKK. I can only imagine that quite a few of the exisiting passengers which go to BKK transit to HKT... That said, they would still face competition with QR in either HKT, CEB, and HAN!
