I doubt EK will place 2 A380's to MEL, but the direct EK406/407 flights will make more sense than putting it via KUL because of the premium loads, unless the loads to KUL have been spectacular, and unless EK wants to push both EY & QR out of the MEL market and keep it to themselves,
I too would love EK to have A380 operations at MEL with 3 flights daily too! But's its only a dream, but it could happen However, I don't see anything else. I know EK is negotiations to served MIA-DXB nonstop. If there is on the weight restrictions on operated 77W or A380. If there is enough more demands. Lets try to speculating about this one. The entire A380 can handle enough more range to reaches into MIA & ORD nonstop without penalty restrictions and it will save the fuel burns is 1 percent and more fuel efficient and more capabilities. EK can have own justifications the fifth freedom traffic rights through DXB-MIA/ORD nonstop. |

The MERCOSUR aviation people seem definite that a second GRU and/or a new GIG plus a EZE should sson be in place by the end of the year I have also heard some RTW plans DXBSantiago-NZ/oz DXB. Anyone else can confirm this?

@Emirates777
Can you confirm that EK will introduce a second daily flight to DUR from October this year? |

who tells you about the dxb-santiago-nz rtw? is that really on?;)
There are various other possibilities, --this one is striking in its boldness as it then gives EK RTW capability The other way would have been Vancouver- HKG/Seoul/China but thats obviously off the table And I dont think transpacific fifth freedoms from the US are on the cards. But the South Pacific route has a lot of trafiic currently almost 100 per cent dominated by OW --- and huge potential as an alternative route to Asia which QF is choosing to ignore and Air NZ does not have the muscle to exploit. JAL has recently also shut its Brazil Japan route. SO there you go...Claasic EK leap of faith but not without some substance! Im in DXB today and will post if I learn any more |

According to media reports, Emirates may not be allowed to start the second daily to VIE this weekend. Approval is still pending..... Austrian Airlines (Lufthansa) complained about Emirates..... :rolleyes:

Unfortunately, Austria is denies the landing rights to EK. Because EK can't accepted to start service to VIE for this time. I have some bad news for you guys. Austria won't lets EK into VIE. Why can't have a fifth freedom traffic rights through DXB-VIE-DXB. It doesn't have a right things to do to against Austria government. I know there is no possibility to start second daily service DXB-VIE anytime soon.

I actually called Vienna airport information to confirm the double daily flight. The second EK flight leaves Vienna 22:50 which is good for me since I use that airport here, and there. :)
Here is the link to the Vienna Airport information. A little off topic but it looks like the Consevative government in Canada will win a majority in the upcoming elections. I can't see EK expanding into Canada for years to come while they are in power.:( |

Apparently not..spoke to a contact in Ek management on another issue and slipped the question in.. apparently ALL decisions on route expansion of this nature will be only for 2013 or beyond, as they are having to contend with too much with the steady inexorable expansion and multiple demands coming in from existing routings. ""Consolidation"" was the word used.
on another topic Lufthansa is the first to confirm MIA as it's next a380 airport, so can Ek be far behind them?:D http://travel.usatoday.com/flights/p...-a380/150241/1 |
