Rack of baby back ribs, salt and pepper dry rubbed, and smoked in the pizza oven over mesquite and cherry wood for 3 hours. Great smoke flavor and color and tender and moist. Happy Friday!

Pizza tonight from zacharys, Oakland ca.
organic celeries & carrots
citrus

My spouse & I have supper tomorrow for Original Joes, which I love although their menu doesnt offer Spumoni like before. Sob.

https://originaljoes.com/wp-content/...Out.pdf?x96349

ive been eating at this restaurant for decades including their tenderloin location where I saw then-mayor Diane Feinstein at a table by the potty in the 80s. In the 90s I saw a guy get tossed out of a neighboring bar as I walked to my car; he fell to the ground, stood up, and walked back inside.
thankfully the new location is much more decent and not a menace because its just outside San Francisco.

Im so excited. Carnt overdo it and hopefully Ill pack 1/2 to 2/3 of my food to go!

Quite a spread for Holy Saturday !!

We had 2 types of ribs and a takeaway BBQ box with a mix which included wagyu brisket , sausages - 3 types , short ribs , organic chicken and pulled pork ( extra portion ) , Cantonese prawn omelette , chicken curry , coleslaw , stir fried kai lan , .. for mains
And baguettes for the curry
Fruits : primarily mango and pomelo

Sadly , the others did not have room for ice cream or even coffee or tea

36 Hours BALINESE DUROC PORK RIBS ( FULL RACK ) 👇🏻

Fishballs , fish cake & “ chwee kway “ as hors d ' oeuvres , ribs , pulled pork buns ..

Wagyu brisket , coleslaw , etc

Close up of the fishballs ( 2 sizes & types ) , “ fishcake “ and fish paste wrapped in beancurd skin

Some desserts - selection of cup cakes , water chestnut cake / jelly ( Ma Ti Gao ) , sesame balls ( Jin Deui ) , etc

Lovely wrapped Easter egg from Venchi

The rather large dark chocolate Easter egg

Some of the other Easter goodies including challah bread and colomba - Italian Easter Bread / Cake - baked & made personally FS head pastry chef & team - Four Seasons .. oh , except for the chocolate & hazelnut colomba

Blessed Easter FTers & to all reading - because He lives !!

And so we will also be able to enjoy all the food in the places & countries represented in the above meal , soon 🤞🏻 🙏🏻

Here here
happy Easter

so was there rice for curry or just for part of meal?
I prefer rice with curry. I still really struggle to picture baguette with any Asian food including banh mi. Its just so new of an idea.

beautiful meal of course!!!

Yes , thanks , Happy Easter !!

No one wanted rice ! Or the French fries so they were not served .. a French bakery here does a mean baguette .
Curry is often served with “ French loaf “ here for mopping up 😉 ( same with chilli crab when pairing with man tou is always welcomed ) . Actually a norm to have curry with even bread when there is no baguette . This is from when I can remember in these parts ( been flying since I was one , perhaps even younger , so it has been decades 😂 , not 3 score & 10 though .. )

The plum crumble for dessert was also “ saved “ along with the aforementioned ice cream as all were stuffed and declined !!

Need to get flying , latest in Q4 🤞🏻

Baguettes are great for curries and some stews. They work great for mopping up liquids, especially if fresh out of the oven or toasted. Roti/naan works as well. I love using challah to clean up curries. Some asian dishes (with bread) you'd likely find interesting...
,
,
(
and
as well).
,
, Then some more traditional stuff like peking duck (the wraps). If I can order the braised meat from "lu rou fan" (Taiwanese braised meat on rice dish), it makes a great dip for bread. Banh mi is just the tip of the iceberg...

There's more, but I think you get the idea.

Edited: I need to figure out how to post youtube links without the pre-image shots...

agreed that bread is great for stews - ive had western Chinese food with buns / pita etc in lieu of rice. I probably just ignore all the bread with Asian food and just prefer rice.

There is that too. But you have to have the right type of bread to go with the dish. Rye (for example) typically doesn't go too well with a lot of the dishes I listed. But the fluffier breads seem to mix well. Same goes for rice (eg, wild rice often doesn't work, but basmati or jasmine rice often does).

Now that you've got me thinking about this, I'm tempted to get some curries tomorrow....argh!
