Have you ever gotten carryout tacos? They’re going to be nearly cold by the time one is home - no styrofoam allowed in my city. So I don’t know when I’ll get carryout and I’m not having a Carryout Burrito because that’s just one meat. I would want 2-3 tacos with lengua, carnitas, and cabeza (separate). I haven’t had cabeza taco in a very long time, like a year. Oh how I love to eat head tacos. Maybe I need to visit a Mexican grocery store - they should have head and tongue for sale.

t?
Maybe try home made pesto or jarred...I think the stuff you made is dried pesto, right? It is really easy to make in the food processor and freezes well. I love it with Costco meatballs too.
Oh, I thought we were talking about take out enchiladas which I do think travel well. But you are right, tacos get soggy.

Take an insulated cooler bag with you. No need for styrofoam. You take a cooler when you go to the grocery store(s) so why not for takeout? Works the same way.

Mr. Fink comes from the birthplace of pesto - Liguria. Pesto is a religion to Ligurians. Any pesto that comes in a jar, can, plastic container or any other non-homemade method is a blasphemy and is always awful. It is the easiest thing in the world to make and the taste is nothing like those poor excuses for pesto.

Beer brats with deli mustard, roasted Brussels sprouts with garlic, cocktail shrimp with Trader Joe’s cocktail sauce. One of the cats inspected the shrimp for quality assurance.

Tonight's lazy dinner. Took a ziploc bag of previously made piggy bits (roasted pork shoulder) from the freezer and sauteed with some onions. When crispy, I dumped a box of TJs black bean soup on this, added some red pepper flakes, poured into bowls and topped with some sharp cheddar. Warmed up some mini naan.

Did I miss that some people do this? I've never seen anyone around here carrying a cooler bag, and that doesn't sound like something I'd want to do. Maybe it's because our area is so naturally cold . Or maybe we still use styrofoam, I guess I haven't paid attention.

Take an insulated cooler, or ask them to package everything separately, so you can reheat at home. I've ordered cheesesteaks to bring home and have asked for them to be packaged with the bread separate from the steak/veggies/cheese.

tacos are really just meant to be eaten on the spot. Like Millefeuille. None of that carryout nonsense, which also just doesn’t work. I’ll just wistfully walk past Cancun and appreciate the memories until I can return and be able to eat right there. I’m specific about which taqueria products I want.

the homemade pesto idea sounds very fun. I’ll have to search some recipes.

Or move closer to the taco shop. We live about a mile away. Still nice and hot by the time they get to the house.

Went to a new place on Monday, near the Covid vaccine location. 10 tacos, 2 loaded Indian fry breads, 6 styrofoam encased combos meals for $90. Combos were burritos, chicken tamales with killer green chili sauce, and some other good stuff. They had the best refried beans, their rice was quite mundane.

That's another option.

That food sounds delicious!

Taking my dad and my stepmom for their first meal in a sit down restaurant since last March. We'll be going to my club for dinner.

Bottle full of bub? You going to party like it's your birthday!

They’re next door to my old favorite concert venue where I missed seeing Lydia Lunch perform in feb 2020 because I had just returned from CHICAGO and I was tired. I had some great concert nights there in 2019, usually tied with Cancun. It’s really huge that I don’t even go to Cancun now.

FWIW. if I was hankering for a taco and passed my favorite taqueria, that taco would be consumed long before I got home.

it’s not that easy to eat on the street although I can see the appeal and temptation. I almost never take off my mask in public even when outdoors on the street. Once vaccinated I’ll feel more open to eating in public. I rarely dine outdoors for these reasons - esp in this neighborhood. It’s super sketchy with the severe income inequality factor. It’s hard to enjoy eating when near people who might be insecure about food & housing.

Nah, more like a solid day of Mexican food, plus a combo for my oldest kid.

I don’t buy takeout very often these days, so tend to stock up.
