Hahaha....My mother always believed in a balanced diet and would always force me to finish my veggies before I could leave the dinner table. Being the youngest of a rather large family, I was the only one who had an issue with veggies--I just hate their taste. The only foods I ever found palatable were primarily steak & chops (poultry was ok and I treated fish like veggies), and this had gotten drawn out during so many evenings, my father got so tired of my whining, he just made an executive decision and declared, "ok, just leave him alone, he's not changing." From one "monster" to another, my compliments to your 6 year old! PS - The best part, my father hated veggies too! LOL On that note, dinner last night was a muffin full of Oreos and chocolate chunks: https://cimg3.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fly...221ecb5c33.jpg |

I love this story - I was the youngest by far, and my parents massively enabled my picky eating by carrying around an ice chest full of yogurt and milk to restaurants. Vegetables - no way! Meat - no way! I didn't eat a burger until I was 18. My close family did not care to fight, but darn did it cause fights with extended family during holidays - probably why I dislike holidays now and spend them traveling, enjoying the foods I want to eat.
My father was the youngest and I'm the youngest of the family. As such, I was the favorite of my grandparents who spoiled me rotten, which, as you can imagine, created a bit of resentment from my siblings and cousins. During family gatherings, most of my older siblings and cousins would pick on me for that reason, and I still remember my grandmother and favorite sister always sticking up for me. So, like you, while I attend the more obligatory family gatherings, I'd much rather dash off somewhere exotic and roam around left to my own devices. I'm starting to envy whatever sojourn you've been on, which seems to be almost 1/2 a year? And, all of those pizzas will likely have me order one soon, maybe for football Sunday. PS - To this day, during family gatherings, the first thing out of my mouth after entering is always, "where is my favorite sister!" |
A delicious chicken breast on pumpkin purée, plus zucchini, radishes and beet sprouts in Gdańsk tonight. No idea what the spots of brown-black sauce were.

Grilled boneless & skinless chicken breast Grilled asparagus with lemon & balsamic Baked sweet potato with brown sugar, Aleppo pepper & pecans Grilling was quite a challenge tonight because there was a huge raccoon on my back fence eyeing my backyard. Every few minutes I had to spray him with the hose...he kept coming back. 🦝 😲😲 https://cimg1.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fly...e97638ae40.jpg https://cimg3.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fly...0601a3e832.jpg https://cimg4.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fly...59307328f4.jpg |

We decided on Indian this evening and it was delicious. Dinner began with the meat samosas (my girlfriend wasn't a fan, but I enjoyed them). I chose the chicken biryani and she got the butter chicken. I also had a cup of masala tea which they offered free refills on. We split an order of the garlic naan and the roti.
