Quick fried rice.... rice, eggs (mixed in as well as scrambled), chinese sausage, gailan stalks (no leaves) and some baby clams (would have liked cockles but at $23/lbs (and taxes on top of that), too rich for my blood. I should figure out how to raise them... could make a mint....

Costco here almost always has the cockles very reasonable. I think around $8-9/lb., but not the clams for many years. I want the clams, not the cockles! :)

Our Costcos only have mussels regularly. Occasionally they might have fresh jarred oysters, but not always. I've only seen cockles at one place... But they must be selling as they have had them for a while.

Now if only I can figure out how to make SEA style oyster omelette... That mix keeps eluding me.

It's restaurant week in Kansas City, Missouri, so after a nice visit to the Nelson Atkins Art Museum on this -5F day, we hopped over to Garozzo's for dinner. I've always wanted to go here and managed to get a reservation about two hours beforehand. I was hoping to try a new place called Bar Medici, but they were full and I ran out of time to call Amex Concierge and see if they could get us a table.

Our waitress was very friendly and brought over a drink menu full of a ton of wines, martinis and other drinks. I ordered an Old Fashioned and was offered my choice of bourbon-- I chose Buffalo Trace as they didn't have Bulleit Rye. My girlfriend got a lemoncello martini which was quite good.

I ultimately settled on the restaurant week menu and chose the four course option. I wasn't sure about my third entree, though the waitress gave good advice about ordering the steak because it was a good deal when you consider it's 14oz and not something tiny like I would've expected for a restaurant week menu.

The meal started with warm bread and butter.

Next up was the canneloni.

Followed by an iceberg/romaine salad.

The steak came along with a side of penne.

I chose the spumoni for dessert as I only seem to get it during BRT with dhammer53 at L&B!

I made crispy lemon chicken cutlets with salmoriglio sauce, a recipe from NYT Cooking. It was good, though uses too much lemon juice. Otherwise very juicy!

I had some points to use up at Chipotle, so I dropped by for a half steak/half chicken burrito bowl. Served with white rice, fajita veggies, sour cream, cheese, guac and lettuce.
