Pork tenderloin, mashed potatoes and gravy, sweet potato casserole, cornbread dressing, purple hull peas, Lima beans, corn on the cob, rolls, and deviled eggs. Oh and pecan pie and cherry cheesecake.

Turkey (cooked with a simple NYT recipe, though I added some 40,000 heat unit spice to it), sweet potatoes, homemade relish and stuffing, stuffed grape leaves (metche) and salad. Way too much food, but great to be with my parents for the meal. Dessert was homemade apple pie as well as keylime pie with homemade whip cream.

time to fast for a week :p

Thanks for noticing.
these are From my dead parents-in-laws’ kitchen. Once my wife and her sister took their desired things, they shared stuff with the mizbucha including Dansk. The mashed potatoes last night were cooked & reheated in the Dansk red round pot. We have enough kitchen stuff and insufficient space so it was definitely good to see it not go somewhere that we’d again see it.

[blah blah blah. gimme more pastrami!]

That pastrami sandwich was clearly the culinary highlight of your day! Is there any decent Jewish deli in the Bay Area anymore? During my childhood, Brothers Deli in Burlingame was ok but it's been gone for a long time now.

I did buy some Carnegie Deli brand pastrami at the Central Market deli counter yesterday. The physical Carnegie Deli is gone but the brand lives on as a supplier of meats to other delis (and also a concession stand at Saratoga Race Course!)

The last one was Miller's Deli on Polk Street near Swan? Sadly, they closed hop during the pandemic. This was my goto place for a Reubens, and they always loaded it up with pastrami a couple inches thick for me. It had been there for the longest time.

I'm guessing a deli sandwich at Max and Benny's would be the highlight of most people's day!

Happy Hour with my girlfriend at Merchants turned into dinner -- even though we went at 3:45pm.

It's been snowing this afternoon, so we both started with a cup of their turkey and orzo soup. Not a ton of flavor, particularly spice, though it was still good.

We split the truffle goat cheese dip with fig jam

Followed by the pork belly burnt ends.

Ahh memories. That is exactly how it was served to us (minus the ketchup) in Poland. Right down to the tray.:)

Made some A5 for a snack while setting up the tree. My 6 year old stormed in, “I want more meat!” I’m raising monsters.

after looking at the picture of doggy, she looks so aggressive but was so happy! Got some of the rendered fat mixed with her food too.

After watching a chef reacting to Uncle Roger reacting to a biryani video, I made myself some unhealthy fried rice (day old rice, scrambled 2 eggs and mixed in two eggs), chinese sausage (lup cheong), some (frozen) peas and carrots and corn (veggies don't have to taste sad), some gailan stalks (had the leaves with oyster sauce) cut against the bias. No soy sauce, no tofu, no MSG, nothing dodgy. I did toss in a few teaspoon full of spicy fermented tofu liquid which did up the flavour.

And no, the "rice" was not freekah.

Looks good, though can't even pronounce this, let alone know where it is!

Hahaha....My mother always believed in a balanced diet and would always force me to finish my veggies before I could leave the dinner table. Being the youngest of a rather large family, I was the only one who had an issue with veggies--I just hate their taste. The only foods I ever found palatable were primarily steak & chops (poultry was ok and I treated fish like veggies), and this had gotten drawn out during so many evenings, my father got so tired of my whining, he just made an executive decision and declared, "ok, just leave him alone, he's not changing." From one "monster" to another, my compliments to your 6 year old!

PS - The best part, my father hated veggies too! LOL
