I was informed that the skin was so delicious (EVOO, garlic powder, onion powder, smoked paprika, salt and pepper) that no dips were necessary. Actually, I used hot sauce and ketchup on the tots. :)

A co-worker and I drove out to Eastern Colorado this afternoon and stopped by a restaurant/bar called Oscar's in Limon for dinner.

We started with the jumbo fried tater tots:

I had the penne pasta with chicken.

We are in Panama City Beach for the week. We lived here for 7 years before leaving at the end of 2019. Had dinner at Craft Bar, an old favorite. I was surprised to see the menu had changed so little since we last ate there 18 months ago, including prices. I do think portions have shrunk a little.

Salad niçoise. A little different since I last had it. This chef seasons the haricots verts with hot pepper and fries the potatoes.

Whatever my friend's Diwali spread this evening will be what's for dinner - no idea what, but I'm sure it will all be delicious ... except for the icky items that may have spinach.

Long time...no post.

I was asked to buy HoneyBaked items for Thanksgiving so I followed parental directions. However, I did buy a turkey which they don't know about which I will smoke Friday or Saturday. I'll likely also make baked shells too as I know my brother's family will be here on Sunday and possibly Saturday night.

In honor of Thanksgiving, I'm preparing to make a massive amount of traditional green bean casserole with cream of mushroom soup and fried onions. Mock me all you want, but I absolutely love that stuff.

I would have done it already, but I just discovered I don't have enough milk. So I'm off to the supermarket to buy more, and then yummmmmmm.

EDIT: 12 cups is a lot of green beans.

Enjoy the yummy green beans! We will just roast ours. Ngl one family member has to SERIOUSLY watch the heart stuff so we are intentionally reducing dairy, cholesterol (meat), sugar… so it’ll be turkey breast with vegan butter, several veggies that will be roasted with only olive oil, salt, pepper; stuffing will have bread and then chopped veggies & almonds & olive oil. Plus the gravy will just be vegetable broth and flour. We are being ultra careful.
I will make thanksgiving next week in SF for the family.

before our FT DO, I was chopping onion & celery & dried apricot for the stuffing; slicing carrots; halving Bxls sprouts; and then seasoning those individually and the green beans. Our hotel has a normal size fridge so we are storing stuff.

Michael’s, highland park IL:
medium salad with 3-Oz chicken
iced tea

Well an hour ago, my Mom, who seems stuck on having enough gravy
asks me. "So you got a turkey, right?"

After 30 seconds of pause, hums/hass, I did tell her I had one thawing in the garage to cook tomorrow and I had both refrigerated mashed potatoes and instant potatoes too.

Will still do shells or a ziti this weekend too.

Given my disdain for every traditional Thanksgiving food save stuffing (c'mon people; turkey is sandwich meat, not a main course), dinner tonight was a perfectly reverse seared to medium rare NY strip steak and twice baked potato. Appetizer was herb- (not Herb) grilled shrimp (thanks, Central Market chef's counter) and Bloody Marys.

Oh by the way all traditional Thanksgiving desserts suck too. Slice of chocolate mousse cake procured for later. Now what whiskey to pair with that to cap off my Drunksgiving feast?
