gorgeous - I’m tempted. I found a recipe for making the za’atar spice combo and I recognize a packaging company for the sumac. Very very tempted :-)

It is really good and fairly easy to make. I'm drooling as I'm typing this.

You can find za'atar and sumac at any Middle Eastern market or buy it online. Time to plug in my favorite spice seller, La Boite, NY.

Ham & cheese sandwiches, with spinach.

I made a big pot of creamy white bean soup with rosemary and also some peanut butter cookies so I have been doing a lot of "tasting" of both. It only took 3 cookies to decide that the cookies were good.

post-play date subs
Italiano
roast beef

I would have ordered a third but they’re cash only! A rare place on Union Street, pacific heights part of San Francisco. Blah. I’m lucky I had $28 cash for the $24.09 sandwich plus tip. Omg cash only.

Homemade beef stew (look at the What’s for Dinner? Thread for a picture) for dinner with a glass of Petite Petit from Michael David Winery
Hibachi broccoli for lunch plus a protein shake
Trader Joe’s Herbs and Spices popcorn for a snack.

$28 for 2 sandwiches? I hope they were good! We both live in expensive cities but that's pretty exy.

I believe the sandwiches were $11.25 / $10.75, then local tax (almost 10%) - it was $24.09 and I gave $28. The sandwiches are toasted, so the french rolls are warm :-). No chips (crisps) or beverages.

i have to think that they own the building. They’ve been there since 1975, so it was cute to tell my child that I used to eat there as a kid. There’s zero commercial rent control and no way can a sandwich place pay commercial market rent for a corner location in one of the most expensive commercial blocks in San Francisco.

A $11 sandwich that only serves one person?? Somehow you manage to find the most expensive places for ordinary food.

Average sandwiches around here run at AU$10-12 tax is included and no one tips for takeaway. The young Asian ladies who run the new bakery up the road from me do those nice French style baguettes with butter, cheese and ham for AU$7.50. The problem is they also do a great sausage roll and beef and mushroom pie and the temptation is high.

At $18 I could walk to one of the multitude of pubs within spitting distance of my house and get the daily special or a steak sandwich.

This. An $11 sandwich out here would feed at least 2 people.

I ended up eating half of the Italiano with my spouse; our child ate 3/4 of the roast beef in the car and I had the final quarter.
this is pacific heights. I don’t see many sandwiches for below $12 although usually plastic is allowed for payment :-)
maybe vietnamese Bahn Mi sandwiches will cost less, now that I think of it....
