I didn't even realize Maggiano's was now all over - even Scottsdale - for a taste of "home." Portillo's, Malnati's, Culver's and now Maggiano's!

For New Years Medianoche

Shrimp Cocktail Platter
Grapes
Welch's Red Grape Sparkling Juice (we don't drink alcohol too often)
Spaghetti with Progresso White Clam Sauce adding 2 cans of Bumble Bee Chopped Clams without the juice. (We usually have Pancit Canton, but my wife has not really felt like cooking all year as she has done in the past) I have been told we should eat long noodles at celebrations for long life, and it seems to be working so far, so why break the streak.

Dakila had Boiled Chicken Breast, but didn't want to eat because of all the firecracker noise. He was really scared last night.

That looks amazing! Did you bake the biscuits yourself?

I obviously didn't grow up in the south, because I'm not a fan of sausage gravy.

Yes, opened the can and then baked them! ;)

I didn't grow up in the south either and it's only in recent years that I grew to like it. It's pretty good with hot sausage.

I'm also very much not from the South, and biscuits and gravy is one of those things that I'd never be able to eat on a regular basis, but once in a blue moon - and if it's done right - is simply amazing.

I actually bought a can of Pillsbury Grands biscuits on impulse a couple of weeks ago and baked it. It was nowhere as nice as homemade, but it gave me an excuse to use some apple butter I had sitting in the fridge, so that was good.

I discovered that the Pillsbury and other biscuits that come frozen (usually ~dozen in a bag) are almost as good as the ones I can make myself, and substantially better than even the best canned ones.
