Ahh....too hot - on the street in Thailand they usually ask if you want 1, 2 or 3 chilis as they make your som tum;)

It is very hard to find them and if something calls for it, I usually just use the stems and the leaves. Asian markets have them sometimes.

A handful of Trader Joe's Dark Chocolate Covered Stars with a Trader Joe's Dark Chocolate Covered Peppermint Joe Joe's for "dessert."

Both recipes look very good. Your comment about the chili reminded me of when I took a cooking class in Thailand. We made perhaps 5-6 dishes and then ate them. Delicious. They gave us the recipes to bring home. A couple months later I had maybe a 3rd or 4th date with someone and suggested we try cooking a few of the recipes. Almost everything was so incredibly spicy, and the soup was so hot it was inedible...and I love spicy food. Bottom line, I ruined a dinner date, but am now married to her anyway :).

Nice story :)

I actually only used 2 chilis and it was way too much. I like chilli but I don't like just a wall of heat that overpowers everything else.

Asian grocers usually have them here. Otherwise do what corky suggests. It is a different flavour, but really you probably wouldn't know.

Yes I know but even 99ranch and the local Indian market tend not to have them - just surprised that they are so hard to find in an area which has a huge Asian population. OTOH when I ask at the farmers market no one is surprised at the question :)
I think if cilantro roots are the only problem I have then I'm a truly lucky person!

I toasted a bagel (which was stale, from a couple days ago, but toasting made it ok) and put a scrambled egg, some cheese, and a bit of onion I had on it. And some sriracha.

And I juiced the grapefruit that had been sitting in my fridge for some fresh squeezed grapefruit juice.

Excellent lunch of leek and spinach soup with creme fraiche, followed by Stilton.

And tonight, it's leftover Christmas again - turkey with stuffing and cranberry (but finished all the bread sauce:td:) kalettes, bubble & squeak and sausages. Then leftover Christmas pudding! It still leaves an awful lot of turkey!

Lunch sounds yummy.
I would not eat turkey leftovers too long after christmas unless you plan on boiling them for a couple minutes. Leftovers don't (safely) keep forever.

I made a terrifyingly large brown rice/pinto bean/chile/cheese casserole this weekend, and I've been eating that most meals for the past 4 days. I'm just about finished with it now, and then it's on to the next recipe (which I think will likely include lots of leafy greens, but I'm not sure what to make.)
