Lunch just now was a toastie with manchego, japalpenos and ham. Very tasty. A sandwich press was one of my doomsday prepping things I bought back in March. Don't know how I lived without one for so long.

Last minute change of plan last night and ended up with Cauliflower steaks with an anchovy and caper dressing - absolutely delicious and very filling, which surprised me. Finished off with the first of the local strawberries with local cream. Simple but as good as it gets.

Brekky - cinnamon French toast and organic fruit (mango / cherries)
luncheon - store-bought Indian cuisine coconut curry chicken (the one that Costco also sells) rice pulao (from an Indian grocer) lentils (also Costco) i’m more aware of the sodium for future shopping :-) https://cimg6.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fly...608e3c54d.jpeg |
Local ice cream.
Local pizza (Disappointing) Sea scallops and roasted broccoli. |
Tonight it was local lobster, local Cornish earlies, local leaves, local strawberries and cream - all caught/produced within 20 miles. Let down and massively enhanced by a Chassagne Montrachet 2010 Lamy which travelled a fair distance to get here!

It's been a rough travel day. Breakfast at my hotel started at 7 and I had to leave early to catch an 8:41 AM flight. I couldn't check in online so I wanted to get to the airport early just in case so I chose not to stop on the way to get anything. The only place open at PHX for food was Wendy's and it had a huge line so I ate leftover Mongolian BBQ from YC's in Gilbert.
I got to DCA five hours later to find no restaurants at all opened so I ate this which was all the food served in First Class on the flight from PHX: https://photos.smugmug.com/Travel/Fl...795456_n-M.jpg This will have to tide me over until about 9 when I finally get home. |

You should carry some snacks, beef jerky, granola bars, or something you like that will keep you from starving.

I didn't carry snacks for ages, but the last few trips, I've made it a priority to have something, because there have been a few times where a small snack would be nice.

The thing that’s good about these, is they should last a long time, maybe even a year or two.
