Today, I tried to book a IAH-MEX-PVR RT using the Delta website (codeshare on AeroMexico). Delta website worked well, and quoted me a wonderfully decently priced rate of 488 USD RT over New Years Weekend. Went through the entire booking process, picked out seats, then tried to pay for the ticket. At which point the Delta.com website says...."Oops the fare is now 1100 USD higher. Do you wish to proceed?" Of course not. I'm flying UA/Aeromar.

Is it normal for Delta to not have reliable pricing on their website?

I had a frustrating experience today.

I booked 4 tickets for my family in May for RT mco > slc > mco. I made the "mistake" in picking comfort plus for the slc > mco leg since it was only 5.5k more miles per seat and the 5pm to 11pm flight.

So if I just did main cabin RT it would have been 23k per. It was 28.5k per since one leg was comfort plus. Simple enough.

I complete the purchase pick the seats go to bed. Wake up and the 4 seats on the return flight are just random in the AC. That is weird so I try and put them in comfort plus and I can't pick it.

Called the sky miles number and they told me I bought main cabin only... if I look on the site it shows main cabin for the exact flight is 23k miles and all but two seats are open. I guess I just kicked in to delta an extra 22k miles for fun.

I can cancel and rebook but it takes 7 days to get the miles back. I don't have enough miles to book again until I get them back so who knows what the cost will be in 7 days. My wife and I are booked in the first class cabin on same flight so I really need the family on the same flight.... I can move amex MR points to delta but then they are committed to delta.

I submitted a complaint via delta web site and waiting. Really annoying. i am a silver medallion almost gold.

Is the 7 day redeposit rule in effect for cancellations within the 24 hour "Risk-free" window? I haven't done a miles cancellation like that, but delayed redeposit isn't indicated in the Risk free T&C.

For PM/DM it gets processed as a free redeposit anyway. My understanding from reading FO/GM experiences is that the mileage refund is not always instantaneous. But that you might be able to get an agent to push it through, so OP might be better served by calling in.

I called reservations who sent me to sky miles who said basically you booked it main cabin.

This is what it showed main Cabin N but no explanation why it took the extra miles then. Either 23 k main cabin or 28.5 with comfort plus is fine. Pick one.

On the phone they said I had 72 hours to cancel. I moved 100k miles from amex to delta planning to just cancel the tickets, book new tickets, and then in 7 days get the miles back. Went to cancel the tickets on the web site and it wants $600 redeposit fee.

I guess I will wait for my complaint to be addressed. Worst case in my view Delta stole 22k miles from me. It would have been worse if I would have picked First class. They charged me miles for a better product then refused to provide it. It is not even possible for me to buy main cabin tickets on thethose flights for 28.5k miles per seat. They are 23k then and 23k today..

Really frustrating.

I followed the trusted and popular method of just calling again and trying a different agent. This worked and the issue got resolved. Only took a few phone calls. They are booked in comfort plus now on the return flight.

I also linked all the tickets together so hopefully we can check in together and they get a free checked bag for my medallion and / or delta amex.

Good grief. Only impact is I moved 100k MR points into Delta in case I had to cancel and book fresh. Those miles are now committed to delta but probably where I would use them anyways.

trying to use the full HTML website on iPhone ... the red "Log In" button doesn't work, which means I can't get to the "Use e-credits" link or see upgrade availability on a flight search

0015PDT - disregard, working now

If you are already checked in for a refundable flight, you cannot offload and cancel the reservation online. One has to either call Delta or reach out to them on Twitter.

This is less than ideal, since the point of refundable reservations is to allow maximum flexibility to the person travelling.

Delta.com reservation search pages are totally broken in Safari on OSX. They refresh every 15 second and there's a little apology note about it in the bottom of the screen.

Chrome has no problem.

Strange coding, Delta.
