Missing out on MQD due to DL flight cancellations and rebooked to other airline

Just a question throwing out there for guidance or to be slapped back to reality.

Purchased F seats Vancouver - Los Angeles - New Orleans for flights in May 2022. Our flights were cancelled and rebooked by Delta to Air Canada and United.

Is it unreasonable to request that I still receive MQD for these flights since I paid DL for the flights, which were then cancelled by DL and rebooked on another airline?

Not unreasonable. Call or write and ask for original route credit: Original Routing Credit, or ORC: The Definitive Thread

I have an upcoming trip (ATL-JFK-AMS) that I purchased via delta that was AF in premium economy,

At some point, there was an equipment swap which ended up with me being downgraded to Y on one TATL leg as there was no A class on the operating aircraft.

I asked AF to fix it and they put me on a AF-marketed, DL-operated ATL-AMS.

When DL reissued the ticket, they changed the flight number to a DL flight number. This will result in a significant drop in MQD.

2 Questions for the hive mind:
  1. As things stand now, I should be able to get ORC for the as-purchased trip, right? If not, is there a viable means to get delta to fix the flight number?
  2. If I apply a GUC to the affected leg while it's a DL flight number, would that jeopardize my chances of getting ORC?

1)Yes.
2)if apply a GUC then this will now be seen as voluntary change to booking.

Thanks - that's more or less as I figured, but I appreciate the 3rd party sanity check.

In this somewhat rare instance, the MQD are more important to me than moving to D1, since I am currently sitting on about 300k MQM and about 800 MQD.

reporting back to confirm flyerCO 's response to my query. It took passes through the diamond desk for them to get it right, but I did receive ORC in the end.

Has anyone ever successfully gotten ORC for an award flight? Called multiple times over two months now. The best answer I've gotten is that the agent sees the previous request to the SkyMiles team, isn't sure why it hasn't been acted upon yet, and marked it as priority but it still hasn't been acted on.

Wondering if their IT or something is just not set up for that.

A RUC applied to my return leg is causing the segment to be shown as Reason N: "We're sorry, we cannot fulfill your mileage credit request because the activity is not eligible to earn miles per Delta rules."

I called the support line twice who talked to the SM support desk, who've said they would manually push it through, however it is still showing as N. Am I doing something wrong here?

Update to the above after a particularly nasty lecture from a phone supervisor just now. Because the class is showing as "OL" it is crediting based on VS O, not VS V. Even DL's receipt and my original BP show VS flight numbers and VS V.

Should I call VS to have them reissue the ticket based on VS V?

RUC can't be used on VS.. Ticket isn't reissued after flying. What flight number and fare class did you originally buy? What flight number and fare class showed after upgrade? I think issue is you were upgraded even though didn't qualify.

Keep pushing it. VS isn't going to be able to do anything as they've already transfered the info to DL. The problem is on DL's side with how they identify the fare and been reported here multiple tims... and it should be based on the original ticket/receipt which you have. If you send your original ticket it should be clear to them what the issue is.

Ticket was purchased through VS and 932 ticket stock, on Economy Delight (V) in September. It was reissued by VS multiple times (presumably because of schedule changes), but the VS flight numbers stayed the same.

This is the last receipt I received from VS on 9 November.

I called VS and they said their ticket was kept the same for all classes until day of departure, then JFK-LAS was switched from VS V, to DL S (C+) to DL OL, which the DL system interprets as VS O.
However, I pull up my SkyMiles receipt and it shows the following, with class "V" and DL flight numbers that match the VS ones. The first two legs are crediting properly as VS V.

My original boarding pass shows the 932 ticket stock, ending in 0732, with Class V and VS flight numbers (VS3011).

I had called in day of departure for JFK-LAS to see if I was on the Medallion Upgrade List. No, the phone agent said. I asked to be added and to use an RUC if able. The phone agent added me to the Medallion list, and that an airport agent needs to finish off the job for the RUC.

I head to JFK, ask about the RUC to an agent. They said no, unable to apply it since it was a VS-marketed flight and I was misinformed. They stated that I was on the Medallion list and we ended the conversation there. No access to the upgrade list on the App and the gate at T2 did not have the regular upgrade monitors, so I just boarded with the rest of C+. When I scanned the BP, I received a receipt moving me to FC for the JFK -> LAS leg.

The DL agent is referring to OL as my fare booking class for JFK-LAS (which leads me to assume the RUC was used after all) and says I should actually be credited 5% MQD on the whole trip (based on VS O) and that I got off easy on this one and should drop it, followed by stating that "I don't have the original receipts" from DL or VS(?) and to stop "reaching at things I cannot see" and that only he can. He ended with a tirade on how I tried to one-up a phone supervisor with "15 years" in the business. I hung up after that.

I'm $179 away from Platinum and should have been over the hump with the last leg.

You need to point out a RUC was somehow applied,, albeit incorrectly (does it show closed?)

Basically it looks like they never reissued ticket, as they couldn't. However they upgraded you as if using a RUC.

Since ticket wasn't reissued, it will look like VS O.

I called back, and reached a supervisor. I explained the scenario, and pointed the RUC out. The supervisor said Delta reissued the ticket, showing as OL and that I was credited properly in line with Delta rules.

The supervisor then gave me a lesson in the MQD crediting, reading off the below from the Partner earning page on Delta.com

I asked why then, does the JFK-LAS leg show as mileage credit based on ticket price. They said there was nothing they could do, and to write a complaint and was left on hold for about 5 minutes before the line disconnected.

At a loss for next steps to be honest.

Yes, it was easier than expected. My Delta flight from ZRH was cancelled and I got rebooked on Swiss and United. Of course no MQDs or MQMs posted automatically because they werent Delta flights. I called in and the agent put in an ORC request with the SkyMiles desk. Posted correctly about an hour later.
