While I'd obviously prefer a window seat in D1 as well, I never had an issue with the center.

Agree wholeheartedly with OP.

In fact, the new D1 “Suites” are mediocre at best. The door gimmick is just that, a gimmick.

Better on the 777, because they learned from their egregious faux paux on the A359.

The real problem is with the uncomfortable seats. They trap heat and have woefully insufficient padding for comfortable sleeping. It’s outclassed by most other international long-haul J hard products.

While I also have a fan, it's not a real replacement for a gasper vent that is pouring out air-conditioned & filtered air at a pressure that you're not going to get from cheap little fan.

I agree with the OP. The lack of gaspers is a problem. I was in a middle on my last PVG-DTW and the warmth of the cabin made it a very uncomfortable ride. I got very little sleep. I asked the FA to turn the temperature down, but it did little to help the situation. I hope that DL refits the middles to include bins and gaspers at some point.

I was in row 4 and 5 middle seats in the A350 suites last July SEA-NRT and back on the way to & from SGN via Vietnam Airlines (which also was missing the graspers in their center seats in business class). I took my trusty usb mini fan and used it a few times on the flights and it worked great. I’m always way more uncomfortable with heat than everyone else, btw, and still this little fan was all I needed. VersionTECH. Mini Handheld Fan, USB Desk Fan, Small Personal Portable Table Fan with USB Rechargeable Battery Operated Cooling Folding Electric Fan for Travel Office Room Household Black
Amazon Amazon
. It got even more use in Vietnam’s terrible July weather.

Do the USB fans work when plugged into onboard USB chargers?

I didn’t have to recharge mine during the flights (the charge lasts quite a while, idk how long because I’ve never run it all the way down). They can use just about any usb power adapter, so even if the onboard USB charger is inadequate (or nonfunctional as they sometimes are), you can just use whatever power adapter you have in your arsenal.

I am trying to stay optimistic, but this feedback makes me worry. We are flying d1 suites lax-syd soon, on the 777.

Lack of mattress pad, tiny bathroom, narrow aisles...still more comfy than economy, but seems like a half arsed business cabin.

then again, last time i flew this route in delta business, herringbone style, i enjoyed it. maybe my worry is just flyertalk induced stress.

Yes of course, it would be ideal if the plane temp was exactly what everyone wanted, and you didn't need to bring a fan. But if you are looking for a solution and not just wanting to vent (no pun intended ), it is something to consider.

Can't speak for all but I have one like I linked and it works great, even on older planes with lower amperage USB ports.

I find it flows significantly more air than a gasper (although it may have something to do with it being much closer to me). You can also direct it much better.

If planes have newer 2.1A USB ports, they could run a VERY high flow fan.

I.
Definitely first world problems I have been doing this long enough that I remember being thrilled to get the clam shelled angle flat seats that were top tier at the time!(while walking ten miles to the airport uphill on the snow). So, I guess to me every new iteration of seats seems a little better than the last. That said, while I think they hit a home run on privacy and quality of the middle seats, they definitely can get hot. And for someone like me that can’t sleep when hot, that’s an issue. I don’t always have the blessing of a lot of advanced notice for international travel so I end up in the middle about half the time. And always hot.

i think complaining helps just so they have the feedback. They won’t change anything on the a350 right now but it would definitely be considered when they do their next interior update. Delta isn’t cutting edge on updates, but they do frequent updates. And they do want to keep those of us that have to buy full fare business class happy. So if enough complain, it will get improved over time.

Have flown to ICN numerous times on the A350 out of DTW. Have had the middle "suite" in the first row. LoveTractor, did you close the suite door and not just the screen door? I just close the screen door, gives me the ventilation needed for a nice breeze yet provides some needed privacy.

Don’t be consumed with worry. We’re talking degrees here, not exponents. D1 definitely is NOT glorified coach. It’s just that DL had a shining moment to create something truly special and they went from Walmart to Target in QoS instead of going just a little bit farther.

You may be more than satisfied, unlike we weary, jaded travelers who have nothing better to complain about.

Maybe, but I found the privacy it offers to be noticeable when compared to the old seats on the 767 or A330...

I usually get cold on flights.

Recently I was happy in a center seat in the first row on an A350 TPAC except for the fact that it had no window and I couldn't even see a window during takeoff and landing when all of the suite doors were locked in the open position. I tend to keep my door at least partially open because on my first flight in suites, I had trouble unlocking and opening my door during the middle of the flight. My seatmate had the screen up when I arrived at my seat, it stayed up during ther entire flight, and I never even saw the person on the other side of the divider. Fine with me.

Did I say that I usually get cold on flights?
