Exclamation Message from a moderator

This thread has strayed far from the original topic. Therefore, I have recently deleted several posts which were far off the original topic which deals with the possibility of a 747 B/E Seat Reduction.
Please feel free to discuss that. Other concerns, complaints, observations not relevant to 747 B/E Seat Reduction will be deleted.

Wow, I just stumbled into this thread. Since I moved to SEA I changed from a Delta(Northwest) flier to UA.
I love the Upper Deck in the 747. And I've flown UD in the UA 747 a few times in the last few years. The UA version has 24 Business seats in the Upper Deck. I just looked up the Delta UD on SeatGuru and it's just 14 seats! What luxury! And they all look like easy access to the aisle and window storage. I may have to try that soon.

I think there are still some LH 744s that haven't gotten (and won't get) the F class refurb, so they still have the old style almost-but-not-quite-fully-flat-reclining-seat where you get two of them, and they'll make one as a bed.

But beyond that, that's the answer to the earlier question of what the best product is on a 744 UD. LH F. ^

14 seats in upperdeck is a waste of real estate. the new KLM has 20 WBC seats in upperdeck. are we so bound to consistency?

KLM uses a 2-2 layout on the 747, in both old and new WBC. For Delta to regress from 1-1 with direct aisle access to a 2-2 layout in BE would be a major step backward for the fleet.

I'd rather have 2-2 BE than reducing BE and 3-3 Y up there.

I agree that full direct aisle access is a great feature. But we all want more BE/WBC seats, and DL shareholders and employees want the $$.

I'll also pipe in, having been on the new KLM seats two weeks ago - they are great - and staggered layout so access less a challenge.

crew staffing the mini cabin

Maybe someone more knowledgeable than me can speak to the relative efficiencies of FA staffing a 14 person mini cabin?

I often see the normal 2 FAs in the upper deck for drink and meal service, and then one goes downstairs to help there with the rest of service.

The fact that there hasn't been a denial by Delta leads me to think that this may be true.

Just curious, when has Delta gone out of its way to publicly deny a rumor?

Are they completely lay flat?

Yes, although I was on the lower deck. 1A is a great seat if you're traveling alone in the new KLM WBC configuration.

May come in handy at some point. Thanks!
