Seat assignments are sometimes also broken on delta.com, but not always at the same time. For my most recent outbound last week, changing my seats within in the mobile app. failed, but using delta.com worked. I already had a pre-existing seat assignment in each case.

I experienced a similar problem yesterday for BOS-ATL. I kept getting push notifications on my phone with flight status updates for another BOS-ATL flight the same day that I was never booked on.

In response the bags being marked as special items when they are free, we will see what is going on. As I mentioned before we have a release in the works now that will allow for paying for bags and with the revised flow there shouldn't be an issue with special bags.

Thank you for the information, we'll try and see if we can get to the bottom of this. At the very least I would expect the behavior to do the same as what happens on the website.

Another item that we are trying to clean up / smarten up is the registration and de-registration for flight notifications. One of the areas of clean up is being more mindful of deleting notifications for flights that you are no longer on.

I didn't think about reporting this, because I didn't think that this was an issue connected to the Android app. However, I know that this has popped up a few times recently for me. Usually it doesnt occur, but did happen on an itinerary out of MSN in August. If it is happening other times, the agents are saying anything...

Seeing same problem here. If I log into my parents' accounts to check their itineraries, I start to receive flight status notifications for all of their flights...

Yeah, minor, but annoying.

I did find out that my originally scheduled last flight home yesterday was cancelled. Good thing I came home early!

New Motorola Android cannot display barcode for boarding

I just upgraded to a new Motorola Electrify and tried to check in for a flight tomorrow. Everything worked fine until I went to view my eBoarding barcode and got this error:
"It is not possible to display a barcode on your handset due to it's screen size. Please use an alternative check in method."

I can understand this if I was using an older phone with low resolution display, but this android is brand new with high resolution, so seems like an issue with the mobile device support and potentially with the V2.3 OS or with this particular Motorola display....has anyone else seen this error?

Why are we able to see the entire upgrade list (listed by last name like in the airport) on our Androids, but we can't see that list on the website on the computer?

Delta, can you get on this?

I'll forward this on and see if we can recreate this issue and look into fixing. We test many different sizes and we hadn't seen this but we will look into.

Had an issue with the Android app yesterday and wanted to send you the details.

Routing was BWI-ATL-BNA on 10/30/11. Arrived early in ATL so did standby for 1452 to BNA instead of waiting for my original flight, 342. The agent gave me a seat request card.

At this point the app showed both 1452 and 342 in My Trips. For 1452 it showed standby instead of a seat but my name did not appear on the app's standby list. Other passenger names appeared on the list along with the count of remaining seats in F/Y.

The gate's display monitor was still showing the connecting gates from the airplane's arrival so I couldn't compare the app's standby list to the one on the gate area display.

About the time that boarding began, the app started returning an error message whenever I tried to view the standby list. I don't remember the exact wording but it was something about the standby list not being available.

When Zone 1 was called the agent called me up saying that I was cleared and I boarded. After boarding, I continued to try to retrieve the standby list but was never able to do so. Also, the app never showed me with a seat. It continued to show me as standby even after the flight had departed. (It's really nice that the app works free through GoGo)

By the time we'd landed, the second leg had completely disappeared from the app. The itinerary in My Trips now showed it as a BWI-ATL trip with no mention of BNA at all. When I got home I checked Delta.com and it also showed only BWI-ATL. I'm waiting now to see if the second leg posts correctly to me account.

Anyway, I'm getting a lot of use out of the app and appreciate the continued development. I hope this information can help you continue to improve it. With the gate display not showing the standby and cleared lists it sure would have been helpful if the app would have been able to display my status so I could see when I was cleared.

Thank you for bringing this to our attention. The boarding passes should load on the Electrify now, there was something on the server side that wasn't recognizing the device properly and that has been fixed. Let us know if you run into an issue again.

As far as both trips showing under the same trip view, that is how it should be at this time, so all is good there.

It seems that the issue may be when you have gone from being standby to cleared, so that is something that we will look into first. As far as error messages, for the upgrade / standby list there is only one and that is that we couldn't load the list.

What you experienced with flight 1452 disappearing when you landed has to do with what happens after your status goes from "checked in" to "on the plane". Once you board the plane the segment disappears from the "face" of the PNR. The "face" of the PNR is just a list of segments that are left to complete. I'd have to double check, but I think it gets a little more complicated when you talk about connections. If I recall correctly, in the event of connection flights all segments stay in the "face" of your PNR until you have boarded the last segment. I will follow up with the connection scenario.

Thanks for the detailed reply.

One other issue from the same trip that I forgot to include in my first message.

Routing BWI-ATL-BNA. I checked in using the app but received a boarding pass only for the BWI-ATL leg. Both boarding passes were available on Delta.com but I couldn't find anyway to force the app to retrieve the second boarding pass.

Just in time for the Thanksgiving travels, version 1.6 has just been released to the Android Market. iPhone and Windows Phone 7 updates are awaiting approval and we hope will be there early next week.

Aside from various bug fixes you will see the following updates with this release:
  • Pay for bags while checking in and save time at the airport. This also gives you all control of marking items as "Special Items" to avoid them getting improperly set that way.
  • Track your checked bag like you track a package even during your flight.
  • Aircraft details and layouts for Delta's fleet.
  • Expanded airport information including airport maps, transit details, weather and Delta Sky Club locations

For our next release we will be adding a couple new features such as checking in for international trips as well as some performance enhancements when loading your trips to your phone.

Thanks Danny. I appreciate at how quickly and how well this project is moving. Compared to other areas of Delta Customer Service this seems to be top notch and I'm certain I'm not the only one that appreciates all the effort.

Since it seems hard to get many changes on the Delta website, I am wondering if the Delta app would be able to show other airline confirmation codes for codeshare flights.

A very common problem for me is that the first leg of my flight is on Alaska Airlines. I am unable to checkin online (and sometimes at the airport kiost) without the Alaska confirmation code. There is nowhere on the Delta website to get this information requiring me to call and take up a busy Delta Agent's time to get it (and sometimes they can't even seem to find it). Can all the confirmation codes for an itinerary be somewhere within the app.
