I haven't read the entire thread, and suspect the answer is "no", yet going to ask.

Is there any loyalty program that FlexPoints can be transfered to? I have no immedate (or future anticipated) use of FlexPoints, while getting some miles/points into another program might offer some value. Presume I could purchase gift-cards, yet seeking miles/points ideas. Thanks!

You are right, no transfers are allowed. The best use is for flights (20,000 for $400 and 10,000 for every additional $200 of ticket price) but you can get statement credit or a cash card valued at $50 for 5,000 points. Other items offered as well but not very appealing to me.

After reading the posts on this thread, I called US Bank to ask if my annual fee could be waived. I got the usual "no" and proceeded to "I recall periodically getting ways to earn bonus points on promotion activities, but I haven't received anything like that recently. Can you please tell me if there are any bonus point opportunities available?" The rep was very nice and immediately offered me 3500 bonus points "as a courtesy," although she noted it wouldn't post until another full billing cycle (after the current one) had closed.

I've actually been very happy with this card so far. I've had a few issues with inaccurate/fraudulent charges and US Bank has dealt with them promoprtly and courteously.

I do wish they would get it in gear and come up with a way to use points+cash for fares that fall in between the award levels.

buy AMEX gift cards?

I searched for this thread but could not find information on this question, so here comes the post:

If I use the flexperks card to purchase amex gift cards, will the transaction earn miles/points? How about VISA gift cards?

Thanks!

I buy Am Ex gift cards from my local grocery store. This counts as a purchase and I get double the points for the price of the GC if I plan it right (and I always do!)

I too have been given courtesy 3500 miles when I called about the fee. I do like their promo's they have. The targets are easy to reach and the points have always posted.

I haven't redeemed any pts yet, but have played with the website and seems pretty straight forward.

Has anyone seen any new Promos lately?

I had a 3,500 point offer, in the mail, for making a minimum $1K balance transfer @ 0.99% for a year with a 4% fee.

Just got what appears to be a really blah "prequalified" offer from US Bank with no points bonus. Just 0% APR on purchases and balance transfers for a year.

The opportunity cost of losing my Starpoints or cash rebate appears to balance whatever benefit there is to no interest for a year--which I suspect has some tricks to it such as must pay a minimum each month to keep 0%. The offer is unclear on this.

Now if they would give me a 20K bonus, too ....

US Bank has a no-fee version of the FlexPerks card, with I presume diminished earning rate. (I don't care much about FlexPerks points, so I don't remember the details.) I had had a no-fee Northwest WorldPerks Visa for years that earned only 1 mile for every $2 spent, and that became a fee-free FlexPerks card. I also had a WorldPerks Visa which I applied for just days before they stopped taking WP Visa applications, which had the first annual fee waived, and it became an annual fee FlexPerks card (where an annual was due at the anniversary of me etting the corresponding WP Visa). I just cancelled that one and kept the fee-free one.

Btw, they've offered me the same 3500 bonus points for a 0.9% BT that was mentioned above, on this no-annual-fee version of the card. (I don't really care much about the points, again, the card is only worth keeping for the BT offers themselves to me, now that it doesn't earn either miles or transferrable points.)

On a side note: Kroger Personal Finance (a card which earns points at Kroger-owned grocery chains, which go by many names, including Ralphs in SoCal) sent me a letter recently that my card with them (which was through RBS) is going to be administered by US Bank shortly. I wonder if at that point transfers will be possible between the FlexPerks and the Kroger rewards programs?

Does anyone have a "platinum" designation with US Bank? Presumably, this is based upon maintaining high balances in checking/saving. For the FlexPerks card, this platinum status is supposed to earn a 50% "platinum package bonus" on card spend.

Even though platinum package bonus points should post automatically at the end of each billing period, my most recent statement omitted the platinum package bonus line altogether from the FlexPerks points summary.

Had to telephone Customer Service, who promised these points on the next statement.

Having to wait 30 days for FlexPerks to correct their own error is not the best solution!

Anyone know if you can buy first class tickets using the FlexPerks Travelocity booking engine?

Or, is there a way to buy a full-fare coach class that can be uopgraded with miles? I'm looking to do this on Delta tickets, but I'd have to book in a higher fare class.

Any way to book a higher fare class through FlexPerks?

You can book Business and First Class directly by choosing that class.

Coach seats are booked in the lowest fare class avalable at the price. Here are my examples:

(UA) LAX-KOA Economy (T) after paid upgrade to E+ (Offered upgrade to Business for 17,500 miles and $300)
(UA) HNL-LAX Economy (L) (Offered upgrade to Business for 17,500 miles and $300)

(CO) LAX-HOU-BON-HOU-LAX Class (U) (offered upgrade for $575 each way to Business/First or standby Business/First for $75 and 15,000 miles)

I did call before booking to ask about class and The people at Travelocity had no idea how to tell until it was booked. I hope this helps.

Beware when redeeming Flexperks points for Delta Tix. Flexperks will book in the lowest price coach fare class. Delta allows SkyMiles upgrades only on YBM fares. sLUT fares do not qualify.
