you can swap to this card if you want to keep your points
http://www.flexperks.com/credit/prodSR.do

only 1 point per $2 spent but there is no annual fee as long as you use it once per year.

They've been taking out full page ads in the Seattle Sunday paper the past couple of weeks. I have to say it does look interesting now that TYP fixed redemptions are gone...

It looks like this page was taken down. Anyone have another way to get to the offers?

a7800 May 14, 2010 1:26 pm

No love for me in terms of offers, but I did get the annual fee waived because of spending.

beachmiles May 19, 2010 2:47 pm

3,500 flex points to waive fee.

This was on my latest statement:

"Special offer: You can redeem 3,500 FlexPoints for your Annual Fee through July 31 if you have not yet earned the annual fee by spending $24,000 in the last 12 months. Go to Rewards Center in Internet Banking and click on Browse Rewards."

On a related note, what happens if you close only one of your accounts? I have one personal (no annual fee option) and one business account, and I might close down the business account if I get an annual fee.

Thanks.

I spent very little on this account (altogether about $2,000 for the last ten months) so I am not quite sure whether US Bank would consider me as a worthy customer.

Let's think positive thoughts. $2,000 They may want to work a little harder to earn your business.

After not getting any offers on https://flexperkspromos.usbank.com/ except the 250 point quiz I called US Bank to ask about any promos for my account. I was told there is a promo offering 3,500 points. I asked what I had to do to qualify and I was told that all I had to do was ask for the points. I asked and they gave^. Best promo I've ever had.:D

+1, which they couched as an offset for the upcoming annual fee.

and now for part II...

received offer for 3500 points for using a convenience check, minimum amount $1K. T&C related 3% fee ($30 for the $1k, and 0.0055 daily rate=$5.50 per day @$1k... figuring a two-day float, that's $41 for 3.5k points, or $0.012/pt...

Anyone else with similar, and does the math figure correctly?...

Thanks to the US Mint I met the spend requirement and the annual fee was waived anyways.

I received a similar offer. You might want to check your T&Cs. My offer is for a promotional APR of 1.99% which equates to a daily rate of .0055% -- not .0055. That means that $1,000 would cost you $0.055 per day rather than $5.50 per day.

This effectively equates to "buying" 3500 FlexPoints for $30 or less than $0.01 per point. I'm debating whether it's worth pursuing since the program's best bang for the buck is achieved in 10,000-point increments.

Flexperks

Just received the same offer as well and hope to get in on it but want to be sure what I am paying for 3500. Thot I ask the smart people if I use the check and pay myself $1000, can I pay my $1000 in advance - before the charge hit - so I dont hv to pay any fee? Thanks! Never used these check before.

Also recevied offer to spend $250 to get 3500. Will buying $250 worth of walmart or costco gift cards quaslify?

Thanks!
My head is swimming with doing checking offers from Chase and Key trying keep the requirements right.

You cannot avoid the balance transfer fee. Once you write a check, US Bank charges you 3% of the check amount no matter what you do. However, you do have some control over the amount of finance charges incurred. In the case of a customer who writes a $1,000 balance transfer check under this promo, each day that goes by increases his/her out-of-pocket costs by a mere $0.055.

Because some banks take exception with customers who prepay their credit card balances, and since it is costing you less than 6 cents per day to carry a balance, I would recommend that you wait until the check posts to your account, and then pay it off with an electronic funds transfer (even before you get a statement). It may cost you an extra $0.11 (assuming a 2-day lag), but it is a much better situation than potentially getting your account tagged and closed because you prepaid it and wanted to save a few pennies.

By the way, it is best if you do not have any outstanding balances or purchases on your Flex Perks card when doing this. The less moving parts, the better when dealing with banks and their credit card products.
