Thanks, I did misunderstand. I wish I knew this sooner, I would have saved 5000 points!
|
didn't reread the whole thread - but just noting that Flexpoints from my biz and personal accounts are combined into a single Flexpoints account. So I plan to get 40,000 points in a single account rather than 20k in each of 2 different.

We have two accounts each (personal and business) for myself and my spouse. Is it possible to combine all into one as a household account? At some point next year we'll probably drop at least two of these cards due to annual fees (I do not think we'll hit $24K on each card).

I did see the Household Level option online too. I called them and it can be done. Thanks.

I complained that some of the tickets are just marginally higher than the amount needed. The rep said the way to get around this is to buy a $50 gift card and call to make the reservation (the $50 gift card is 5,000 flexpoints). This way if you have $400 for 20k limit and your fare is actually $430 apply the $50 gift card for 5k and your ticket will only cost 25K instead of 30 K. This is not perfect but it is better than the other alternative.
Example: I bought 2 tickets for $143.20ea which would have cost me 40,000 points. Instead I used the "Choose Your Own Reward" option and redeemed only 28,640 total for both tickets. That reimbursed my the full $286.40 cost. I know that 1 ticket for the $286.40 price would have been better by using the 20,000 points but in this instance it worked out better for me. |

Even better than that is the "Choose Your Own Reward" option. You can redeem any amount of points as a credit to your account. It comes out to $50 for 5,000 points like all the other options but you can pay the cost of your airline ticket (or anything else) down to the penny with the points.

you should be able to since there's "household account" option inside the rewards center, call them...

It's still a very poor use of the miles, which are clearly worth up to 2 cents each if used near the max value per level. You only got 1 cent each. I think most of us, in your case, would have paid cash for these tickets, saving the FlexPerks for tickets costing, say, $399.99. :D
|
for those who have redeemed for airfare, how did you receive the $20 credit toward the airline for incidentals?
|
I redeemed two tickets, but I was not aware of the $20. credit. Where did you see this? I can't find it on the website. I'll call Flexperks later today.

http://www.flexperks.com/credit/prodTRsig.do# On a side note, just booked my first award ticket. In regards to booking the trip I wanted, my experience worked great. It seems the availability of award flights using the Travelocity site was exactly the same when I searched other sites for non-award flights. I did have to be careful in how I booked the trip, though. When looking at Orbitz, it said there was 1 ticket left at a sub-$400 price. I wanted to book two tickets (one award, one non-award). So I booked my ticket first on the travelocity award site using 20K points, which then bumped the price of the Orbitz non-award ticket to over $400, which I paid for out-of-pocket. Probably goes w/o saying, but just be mindful of things like that. |

Check out the link, it says you can call customer service within 90 days of your award flight to request the $20 credit for expenses. (Click on the Benefits tab, and it should be there under Airline Allowances)

I wonder if I have to put those expenses on the Flexperks, or I can put the expenses on any card and just call to get the statement credit. Otherwise, how do they know if I actually spend on the flight redeemed with Flexpoints?
