Call them. I think they have a technical glitch properly registering the business cards for the bonus. I contacted them and they said my card was not registered for the bonus. I am 99% sure I registered it online. I expect to see the bonus on my next statement since it's now properly registered.

There are some reasons to get this card. You can earn back your annual fee, you can use the points to cover taxes on airfare, you can double-dip and still receive mileage on your reward travel, etc...

I'm wondering how this works. Are you saying that reward travel from FlexPerks doesn't actually book into reward inventory, so I can earn mileage from the airline in question?

Example:

I redeem 20,000 FlexPerks points to get a roundtrip domestic coach ticket on AA. What's the fare bucket on that ticket? Can I use my usual AA upgrade instruments? And can I earn AAdvantage miles for the flight?

US Bank will buy you a ticket valued up to $400 for 20,000 points. Think of it as them using their corporate credit card to pay for it. AA sees it as a regular published fare and you will earn all the regular miles, EQMs, segments, etc. you would if you had bought it yourself.

Then this is a pretty good deal, IMHO.

I don't actually have a FlexPerks Visa. I'm about to receive a FlexPerks check card. Several years ago, I opened a USBank checking account, and that account offered the opportunity to get a Northwest check/debit card that allowed me to earn NW miles for signature purchases using that card. (As someone who likes to keep my credit card usage to a minimum, this was a nice deal, even if it was for miles on NW... I'm primarily an AA guy. I recently opened a checking account w/ Citi to get a similar AA check card from them.)

Being able to use FlexPoints to basically "buy" tickets on AA makes this card way more useful to me. Since opening the Citi account, I've been barely using the USBank account, since the AA miles are more valuable to me than NW miles. Now I might spread my spending around.

Citibank funding

FYI, I tried funding a Citibank account with my Flexperks card. It was declined. When I called US Bank, I was told that it was attempted as a cash advance and declined as the card has no cash advance feature.

no multiple bonuses?

I registered both business and personal cards, and as someone here mentioned, I didn't get a spending bonus (15K bonus) for my business account.

I just called, and the rep. told me that one can get only one bonus, either business or personal cards. :td:

Can anyone confirm this?

I've decided to give this card a try, so this morning I
- activated the card
- registered for a promo (code 36991 )
- ordered $5000 in $1 coins ( backordered until 7/28 )

We'll see how it all works out :)

Regarding the second question, the rep told me that closing the card will cancel all the points earned with it.

This is the most disappointing thing I have read about the card, After earning the innitial bonus it would not be my intent to continue using the card, and I would not want to pay the annual fee if I had not used the points. Does anyone have any information that would indicate the ability to downgrade to a no fee ($2=1pt) card after the first year?

I have half the answer to my question. There is such a card. Only time will tell if you can downgrade to it without loosing points.

Actually, I think this is a super-deal if only to get the initial 10/15K bonus (depending on offer) after the $500 spend. Redeem those points for a $100/150 statement credit or gift certificates and be done with it. That's a pretty good return!

Savage25 Jul 19, 2009 3:30 am

Has anyone opted for the statement credit and if so, how long did it take to post? (Yes, I know it says to expect it in 6-8 weeks or something like that, but I'm looking for actual experiences).

has this been confirmed? all of our spending is for nothing? Also my family got three diff codes, one each for each card. So we cannot code exchange and will get nothing if we do?
