This is day 7 on the consulting bench... and I'm already bored out of my mind.

I haven't been on the bench in over two years. I could definitely use some bench time, this working thing isn't my forte. :)

LMAO. I'm glad to see there is a precalculated eqution to put into forth. Perhaps this should be submitted into CO's system. I can just see it now, GG DISPLACED SO. :D

LAX isn't that bad if you are flying UA, in F. They have their own check-in/security area.

I have to say, while SNA is nice, LAX isn't that bad. Getting stuck at SNA sucks since there really isn't much to do or eat for that matter. It's a great airport to get in and out quick. LAX is a beast in and of itself. A lot has to do who you are flying and when you are flying. I've found both T6 and T7 easy to get in and out of. The most i've waited for security is about 20 minutes at T7 during the Friday afternoon rush.

Now, I will say I don't park and I generally rent cars. The rental cars are a bit annoying with the buses and if you rent from Avis, you have to watch three of everyone else's bus go by before the Avis one shows up.

I'll send you some of these... these ROCK! Mmm

I don't mind LAX - the only terminal that sucks is WNs and that is just because of WN (and since I don't fly WN, I only notice it when I go by on the Hertz shuttle). I am not overly fond of TBIT, but usually I'm dealing with TBIT late at night and it's not horrible (unless it's a holiday weekend and then have mercy). I haven't had issues with CO unless the elite security line isn't open (it wasn't last time but the line was short). UA is easy as long as you are flying up front or are elite. The airport is old and dirty, terrible for connections, but other than that it's fine ;)

oooh, goodie. Another schedule change for one of my BD OKC runs. I managed to get rebooked through ORD, so more miles for me! For those of you who bought some of those, looks like the Jan schedule changes are kicking in. My trip is on 1/31.

I didn't jump on that one, but the schedule changes are starting to hit for the ORD-IAD-LHR $48 mistake fare on UA/BD. I just got an e-mail that our schedule had changed, but it's a very minor change. Nothing really to worry about.

Sounds like we're even. For some silly reason I didn't jump on the LHR deal. Maybe it was the fact they weren't SWU'able.

I suspect we'll be seeing a lot more schedule changes.

Ugh. I just found out some work I had scheduled for the week after next is no longer on my schedule. Goodbye all hopes of a bonus for 2007. :(

ConciergeMike Oct 9, 2008 11:04 am

Looks like I'm taking Tuesday off for a funeral. Upside: two-day workweek next week.

This will be my first time to break my rule of not changing continents in economy. But it was too good of a deal to pass up, and my other half was insistent we book it. At least it's E+, and we'll have two seats to ourselves on both the 777 going over and 763 coming back. I figure I can stand IAD-LHR and back in E+ if it means getting to Europe for less than $250 each.

I so wish we would have joined you on that. I only have 2K miles on UA, so I guess at some point I'll have to start flying them.

And the exchange rate is looking much better for the UK - so you're in luck. We're jealous!

True, i should have hopped on it but was just slow. Just like the FCO deal.

You can always hope for an Op-up. Every UA flight that i've taken to LHR, there have been a bunch of op-ups.

Projected Tuesday: 73 and sunny with an 11am funeral - is it wrong to play after-lunch golf?

Good god...that's impressive, as is the list of stadiums/cities you've been thrown out of. Getting thrown out at UF isn't all that hard. I did once and I was actually sober. Sadly, despite by love of college football (growing up in Gainesville, FL has that effect) I didn't get to very many away games, so my experience is UF and various bowl games off and on from ~'92-'06.

Some Cornell alumni are football fans, just not of Cornell football. See above for details. ;)

SNA is an awesome airport to transit. Beats the hell out of LAX, as if that's hard to do. It's also closer to everything. Disneyland in 15 minutes, Anaheim/Garden Grove in 15-20. There's also the aforementioned John Wayne statue. If I had 12 hours to kill, I would be looking into local nightlife - Newport Beach also a good option. SNA will appeal to your inner FTer/aviation geek...it's just a well-done airport.

Well, my time there is pretty much an overnight, so I might just be hanging out under the John Wayne statue for a few hours. Then again, if the free car rental reservation is honored then maybe I'll go for a drive or something.

Has anyone in The Box been to Iceland? Thoughts?

While the weather between November and March may not be the best these fares could get interesting if Iceland Air adjust their currency conversions to today's numbers (although, trading of the Krona is currently suspended).

Mom's been there IIRC 5 times. She loves it, despite having broken her ankle while walking on the Continental Divide last time there. She keeps tellnig me that I need to go for the golf, because it is apparently excellent in their warm season. Everything is VERY expensive (or at least was?) on the ground there, and they don't know what a bell desk is, as no hotel in the country has any form of porterage. FI's attempt at a J cabin isn't that great from what she says.
