You're all depressing me about the MR talk knowing that I'll lose lowly silver because of reduced business travel as well as being forced to fly other airlines this year as well as an Amtrak heavy year.

BL JR recites the alphabet: "A, C, D, J, Z, R, Y, H, K, M ,N, B, O, V, U, Q, I, S, T, W, X, L."

Sorry, baglady, it was just too easy to pass up. :D

AA has availability on two flights (hopefully they still do)

They ended up only needing one and I didn't want the other half to wait at IAH for 3 hours for a $300 cert.

I would have been on an AA ATR-72 though... Dang it!

No interest in biting that bullet yourself?

Anyone up for a EWR-HNL-GUM MR???

I'd love to if the fares were right. It turns out that Guam has the western-most point in the US by direction of travel, and it shares a name with the eastern-most point. Go figure.

I'm doing SMF in 2 weeks with a 45 minute turn.

Strangely, I actually am not a fan of the idea of just doing 4 out-and-back turns to get status. I like different cities and routes. I'm glad I'm getting SMF this time, and I'm going to try for PDX next year though it isn't cheap as frequently.

This year has actually been quite effective for me in new lines on the map. I have eight new cities already this year (IST, NAV, ASR, HKG, CHC, DEN, SOU, BRS) and I'm adding four more new ones in the next two weeks (SMF, SNA, OKC, PDX). Good times.

Agreed. But I was bored and hypothesizing.

Any idea how IAH-PDX runs for upgrades? Days of the week are up for grabs though she has prek MWF so I'd like her to not miss more than she has to; but I can teach her the letter H on the trip.

For me, as a Platinum, IAH-PDX flights have been super easy to get an upgrade on. I hear the morning IAH-PDX run on Mondays can be harder, but that's from a friend who is a Gold. His travel companion, a coworker, is a Platinum, and always gets upgraded on that flight.

I didn't realize AA was putting the ATRs on routes out of DFW that had been RJs. I knew some ATRs were replacing the Saabs.

It's also worth noting that they are usually wide open on the red-eye coming back.

I flew IAH-PDX just about every other Monday last year. I was upgraded once as a Platinum companion, and once as a Platinum. All other times, it was exit row city. I don't think I ever got upgraded as a Gold.

Cool, we can take the red eye and I can take her straight to school:) A quick shower and change in the P club and she should be all to go! She just got a new luggage tag so she is all excited for MRs ;) Think of the great stories she'll have for her school mates.
