I am quite impressed that Halloween dress hasn't changed in the several years since I've been out for the party. Garters, stockings and a "skirt" seem to remain the outfit of choice for most women in NYC. Bumblebee or angel wings are optional, apparently. And I didn't even make it to the parade; that was just on my block.

That seemed to be the case in my neighborhood in DC, as well.

Having done AUS - ONT on an RJ-145 (XE branded), and clocking in at significantly larger than your S/O, I can say that her thoughts and feelings about long flights in a small jet are well founded.

I was at Disneyland last night and it was mostly families, but there were series of girls that were in things that were just uncool.

So do we have a final verdict on weekend for PTY in March?

The majority is still 27th to 30th IIRC. I misplayed my hand and angered the females. I don't think the anger would be so pervasive if it wasn't in the run-up (read: money-saving) time to a wedding.

Ruh-roh. So does that mean you're out? That would be a bummer. Perhaps following ALCO's advice and letting them know from the hotel in PTY would have been prudent. :D

I am most likely out. :( The females have a point - it's discretionary money that can for all intents/purposes be put toward all things wedding. I can't fight that logic. The famed bump cert that I've been holding on to can also be put to better uses, namely the annual Christmas jaunt to FLL. ALCO trimmed expenses in all other facets of life to feed the beast, whereas my beast that I'm trying to kill is poor money management from younger and dumber times.

Well you will be missed sir.

I just booked EWR-PTY-IAH-EWR for 3/27-3/30. At least I have 24 hours to figure it out. :)

My putting 440,000 CO miles and 200,000 (to date, likely to increase) SPG points towards the honeymoon provides me with somewhat of a bargaining chip when the issue of discretionary spending comes up. Still, there has been some heat lately. She may well get initial notice of my February PTY excursion after I have checked in at the 4P there. I don't think she understands how difficult a two-week honeymoon (on non-EQM earning flights and non-crediting hotel stays) will make 2009 Plat requal for CO and SPG. I doubt she cares, but I certainly do. :D

I'm seriously considering PTY. Need to check the calendar and budget first though.

I canceled my tix for 3/20-23 and booked a new ticket for the 3/27-30 weekend so I've got another 24 hours to go on that one. FWIW, apparently triggering 2 refunds and a new purchase on an AmEx within 5 minutes was enough to get my card locked. I had to call in and get them to open it back up to buy the ticket again.

Woohoo! UA cleared the upgrade for the longer of the two flights I'm on with them on Monday!

Now hopefully the other will clear.

I'm heading to Wurstfest in New Braunfels - Beer, German Food, and Oompah-Oompah Polka Music! Bring it on!

Random Question time

I need to buy a gift for a colleague that got married the other week. I'd like to get them a nice bottle of American wine, but I'm not fixin to check a bag on my upcoming trip, so that's a problem due to the wonderful TSA.

Does anyone know if the duty free shops at Terminal C sell bottles of wine? Or is it just liquor?

Thanks!

Via IAH. It is a 55 minute connection, which should be fun. :D
