Our flight home is full so I'm hoping for a bump. Do they put you on AA in AMA like they do in LBB?

Agreed - an hour isn't a big deal - but anything 2 hours or more :td:

My record on the ERJ in flight: Just under three hours. I was in 12A, and it was a MSP-IAH flight with a headwind that made the flight run about half an hour longer than normal. The guy in 12B and I struck up a conversation, and drank half the bar cart ourselves. Not a bad flight at all. Driving home at midnight was no fun though.

My record sitting on an ERJ, from boarding until arrival at the destination: Just under 4 hours on a SYR-EWR flight. We boarded, then ATC held us at the gate for about 30 minutes. Then we taxied to the runway again, and ATC held us at the end of the runway for nearly 2.5 hours. Then we flew to EWR. The miracle was that I still made my connection to my EWR-IAH flight, despite walking off the ERJ less than 15 minutes before the IAH flight was scheduled to depart. Even better, they hadn't given away my upgrade to a BusinessFirst seat on the 762, so I not only made the flight but kept my upgrade. That experience was two years ago this past Friday.

Yay! Second UA upgrade cleared. Not only do I get to sit up front, but given the crazy way UA calculates the number of 500 mile upgrade certificates needed to upgrade when checking in online, I only have to redeem 2 E-500s to fly nearly 1,800 miles tomorrow (if those upgrades cleared at the airport it would have been 4 E-500s). That leaves me with some E-500s to use for the return trip on Friday, should I get so lucky again.

If this is a mass migration home from the football game, I think you might be spending the night if you get bumped.

 - Sometimes I can't recall last week.

My memory for certain things is quite good. Others, not so much. But if I remember it, I can pretty well pinpoint when it happened. The main reason I remember when that trip to Utica happened was it was Halloween while I was there.

As is mine, but that was a scary/fascinating level of detail. For example, I'm that guy that has to put my wallet and keys in the same place every night when I come home. If I don't, I have no clue where they are in the morning.

Having said that, I have vivid memories of being in my father's car when I was four years old...said times I remember are perfectly neutral; not happy or sad in the least. I also don't associate people I know with their cars, but rather with the license plates. I can tell people their plate numbers that don't know their own. Sometimes I scare myself with the ability to recall stuff.

In the completely random department for today, I figured out that these cheap L-fare transcons via IAH could have netted me Silver in 4 R/T's at just a shade over $1K.

Do it. BTW, my return flight this morning had 5 FTers including myself in front of course. Two of us were on a mileage run PHL-IAH-SEA and the other three were doing PHL-IAH-SMF.

I'm going to look into something vaguely ALCO-esque for 2009...however my goal will likely be Silver in as few actual segments as possible. There's no point in trying this late in the year...I've noticed that Wed-Thu overnight turns are the cheapest right now. Hopefully that pattern holds and my finances improve to the point that I can dabble in some quasi-pointless flying soon.

AA has availability on two flights (hopefully they still do)

Flight 776 this morning? I was in 1A and overheard some talk about mileage runs from others in the front cabin. I was also on the same return flights as the 3 coming back from SMF (although, I was out there for the whole weekend). I should have said something but I was far too tired this morning to socialize with anyone. :)

Just spent the better part of today watching the NYC marathon from atop my friend's apt. building on 1st Ave. :-:

In other news, CO finally updated the menus for Nov. online. They look decent.

ConciergeMike Nov 2, 2008 3:09 pm

Poo to the marathon. CO's handling of lift re: the marathon made my mother's life miserable. No offense to those who find it exciting.
