Got a question for you all, BOS-EWR-PDX on a Friday afternoon. Flight leaves BOS at 5:05pm and there's 35 minutes to connect in EWR to the last flight out to PDX that night. What are the chances I'll make it?

Zero.

The CO3407 thing has me frazzled this morning. I'm completely out of it and have to be at my office in 35 minutes. So sad for all the families and the victims.:(

while you already got an answer (zero) I will say that the uncertainty principle from quantum mechanics comes to the rescue........it's not exactly zero but.....in practical terms it is zero
:p

Yeah, I am a little out of it as well due to the crash... I feel terrible for the families. :(

I checked in for my AUS-IAH-PDX segments and saw that only two people have been upgraded for the IAH-PDX segment with six seats out of 16 booked (including the two upgrades). Doesn't really seem like CO is running EUA or they really think they're going to get a lot of last minute B-UPs.

Morning Box. I'll have to try to read about the crash on the handheld - trying to teach myself to use it before I go home and install the software.

Sit in the front of the plane. Carry on if possible. Be the first one off and hurry to the shuttle from A to C

ETA: I may be wrong about the A to C thing, I forgot all mailine now go into C.

Agreed. I couldn't turn off the TV last night. It always seems to hit a little closer to home when it involves CO.

Ok, so I'm watching the upgrade standby list on my flights and just saw someone get upgraded and check-in, yet there are people on the standby list. Y-UP?

hmmm

Perhaps CO is selling kiosk upgrades to non-elites without first upgrading all elites. They claim that's not how the new program works, but I really am not keen on it. How would you really ever be able to prove that was what was happening? Elites aren't added to the pda upgrade list until they check-in. Thus, a non-elite buying up at a kiosk could, for all intents and purposes, look identical (on the pda list) like an elite checking in.

ETA - I guess you could try purchasing a kiosk upgrade yourself to see if it processed prior to EUA. That would offer fairly definitive proof, one way or the other. Is it even offered to elites, though (wouldn't make sense for it to be, if all elites are supposed to be upgraded first).

I guess one could buy a ticket for a non elite, check in and then cancel all within 24 hours of purchase, but that seems like a lot of hoops to jump through

Morning box. I like many am a bit out of it this morning over the tragic events last night. This one was a bit closer to home for me than any prior accident not only because of CO but I've flown those flights in the ERJ days.

It was facinating to see how everyone here was so far ahead of the news media. The ATC recordings leading up to it (I did get it to work) was creepy.

When I was a US1 and had strong reason to believe I should have been upgraded, and hadn't been, I would go to the ticket counter and ask if I could buy an upgrade on the flight.

If I was told yes (and it happened on occasion) I'd say great and I'd hand them my US1 card as form of payment.

I'm very interested as to what will come out of the NTSB findings on the Colgan Air crash. It seems like they just inexplicably lost the aircraft on short final. Condolences to the families of the victims. :(

looks like theres only 2-4 seats on each plane to FLL from IAH monday.....
