From what I am seeing, the expensive piece seems to have changed drastically with Iceland's recent financial problems. A night at a 4* can be had for under $80. in November.

Based on pictures and other reviews, calling FI's J cabin an "attempt" is quite generous. :) It looks similar to a standard domestic F product.

While the weather between November and March may not be the best these fares could get interesting if Iceland Air adjust their currency conversions to today's numbers (although, trading of the Krona is currently suspended).

25 of us ( Many of the same Road Trip Participants ) Took Reyjkavik by storm 2 years ago for a Bachelor party around Memorial Day . We were there Fri, Sat , Sun . (ETA: We almost did not get off the ground as people bought bottles of liquor at duty free and were doing shots before departure)
There was not much to do during the day except for the hot springs and
walk around a little bit , but not many people around.
At night ( Didn't really get dark for long)
it was a different story , It seems like everyone knows each other and they all go out .
One guy was minutes away from bringing back his own Icelandic Woman
he met out at the bar. What I mean by that is
that the next day at the hotel restaurant , the parents came to meet the guy and were ready to send her off to America.
They forgot her passport ,and had to go back and get it . We thought this was the parents way of makins sure she did not go, but while at the Aiport after clearing passport control , my friend got a page from Iceland Air
and she was waiting at the ticket counter for him to purchase her airfare.
As we all know last minute one way airfare can be very expensive , So he backed out ( We tried to take a collection between us and pay for the ticket but it was too late, she went home)

2 coffees , 1 Panini and a mineral water cost me close to 50 USD

Edited as such - it hit me right after I wrote it.

Just talked to The Mom's office - she's almost sure that it was nothing more than a larger seat. That's it.

OTOH, the winter tourism is great because of the hot springs and the photography is tremendous, as waterfalls like to freeze there.

rolov, you never fail to crack me up.

Totally OT, but if I do end up getting married at this golf course that she likes, they are known to throw in comp twosomes or foursomes for the groom's use. I think we all know where this is going.

Oh yeah, forgot: FI phone people are dimbulbs. I have to get my mother to come on and post her story with them...she dealt with a CSR named Dora, who closed the call with "Dora, you know, like the explorer."

The flight isn't long enough for me to complain.

Iceland for Spring Break time?

Might be able to burn off the rest of my AA miles on an upgrade.

No, but funny you should bring it up - the place across the street (Pine Hill) was in the running for quite some time.

Nah. Eagle Ridge, in Lakewood. It's about 50 fewer Parkway miles for you guys that came down.

Thanks. They just built a 3rd nine too. The event space has one test left to pass - we didn't see it prepped for an event. I, along with my girl and all of the relevant parental units, want to see it in its Saturday night best before committing to it.

I'm definitely interested in going - especially if they adjust the pricing to match today's exchange rate.

Sitting in Y is fine for me because, as you said, the flight is short enough.

ConciergeMike Oct 9, 2008 1:01 pm

Reconfirmed with my mother: she called the seat "previous-generation F": you get maybe 4" of recline over Y, and the fare difference is very much not worth it.

I did 26 hours there on the way to mainland Europe and would absolutely go back. I missed the $0++/$60ish A/I fare mistake a few years back.

I'm interested, too, but I need to fit it in between LIM and FCO. :D

Nickleback will be performing a short concert and all footage will be shot in their new music video. Therefore, all BOX attendees are required to sign a consent form to agree to appear in their music video.

To get your tickets and print them at home:

I've gotten my free ticket too, but via Citi cards. They say "up to 10 tickets", but I can only get one.

Anybody else going? Is a LAX micro-DO in order? :p
