Seems that CO is still having issues with the integration. Trying to book IAH-JAC and CO.com tries to sell me IAH-SLC-JAC with a DL connection.

UA serves DEN-JAC and there are plenty of IAH-DEN flights that could legally connect.

Question for the box. My mom is throwing my Grandma an 80th birthday party in early December and wants (is paying) for my wife and I to go down for it. As mentioned before I need about 12.6k EQM to requalify for AA plat next year. This trip wouldn't yield that many miles but would put me a shorter MR away from it. The price difference between AA and CO is very small so its not an issue. The bigger issue is that we found a condo in Hoboken (same one I talked about a few months ago) that we really like and might be putting an offer on in the next few weeks after I figure some more stuff out. I'd say there is an 80% chance that we will make an offer but if we do I'd say that it will be VERY tough to even requalify for CO Gold in 2011 assuming no DEQM in 2010.

So, do I fly CO at almost guaranteed upgrade times or fly AA in Y and do a MR that may be worthless in 2010 because of other priorities?

This is true, that lunch was very good. I was more referring to CO Y on the way home. bleh.

In this instance, I'd go CO as you are pretty sure of a U/G. You will find no bigger proponent of the AAdvantage than me, but only when it comes to being an EXP. I honestly don't find that much goodness at the Platinum level unless you're doing a good bit of international flying and you want free lounge access. Go with CO here. Now if you were chasing EXP, my advice would be totally different.

Also thinking of using a reward tkt on CO -- would it be cutting it too close to have the NatureAir flight arriving at 11:30a & hop on the CO flight (SJO-IAH-EWR) at 12:40p? I know that one needs at least one hour for an int'l check-in! Yes-- chances are that I will be checking a bag!

In case you opt against burning miles, there is a nice Q-up on US that nets ~22500 RDM / 15000 EQM (even more on BD.) Routing is JFK-PHX-SJO-PHX-JFK for under $1000.

Can you book on .bomb? I just tried it on CO.com and it just tells me that they don't serve those two cities.

I know many of the codeshares aren't loaded into the system yet. This may end up being a ticket you have to book through a third-party.

I'm only gonna comment on the condo purchase -- sounds like it's worth taking advantage of the tax advantages being offered to 1st time buyers under the stimulus!:-: Best of luck w/your offer!!:-:^

True, Im just addicted to the oneworld rewards and hate to give up the 100% bonus and knowing that AA is the last airline that still uses stickers. If they announced comp upgrades I would be  that I didnt go for Plat. Then again the MR would cost me another $200 which probably isnt a great idea just before we buy our first house together, assuming it happens.

Actually figured out that I could book an award tkt to LIR for 35K miles -- so have done that -- the return is a N/S in to EWR!^ Don't want to exhaust myself w/a MR -- as it's both vacation & b'day celebration, as well as NIA heaven!:-:
Thanks for the heads up, though! ^ Will have to think through the 'maintain status' exercises -- later! Just happy that I'll be a gold on CO very soon (waiting for miles to post!);)

I'd qualify for the Current Owners Credit (just sold my Lubbock house in June) of up to $6,500 which is still great.

I have this sinking feeling that I will have to fight to get miles posted on everything but the charter. Despite that I called both UA and LH the night before the PHL-ORD flight I don't think my CO number ever made it into the reservation.
