I don't mind exit rows. Exit rows make Y tolerable for me. The first time I ever flew, I flew in F...I was six weeks old. I've always looked at F as a bonus and never expected it.

Wow.

OK, so the pre-departure experience sounds exactly like what I've heard from every friend or coworker I've known who has been to India.

As for the rest, well, the OP could have been in Y. Broken seats suck, but they do happen, and the more complicated the seat, the more likely it is to break. That, and maybe the spilled food, are the real issues worth complaining about. CO can't change the way the airport is run or cultural differences that cause boarding to be mass chaos.

I don't mind exit rows either. Or E+ on UA. But if I can get there, I'm going up front. That doesn't mean I'm going to shell out ridiculous amounts of money or miles to do it. But it does mean I'll keep up elite status as long as I can, and use other instruments, as a means of doing it.

People at my clients ask me all the time how I manage to endure flying as often as I do. Elite status, and lots and lots of upgrades, is how I manage. If the upgrade doesn't clear, there's always the exit row or E+. If neither of those are an option, that's when I start to be upset.

I believe you. I just assumed you weren't wearing them and weren't sober, unless told otherwise. :D

I don't recall there being much food options in PHX. Then again I'm use to T-4 and only been in T-2 once.

BTW, I forgot to mention that colpuck and I were randomly sitting next to a a guy that knew you on the charter.

fozz was right - the first hit is free. I just signed up for ITA and I'm scared at the ability that the site gives me to spend money.

No kidding. If LH C taught me anything, it's that a seat not in the back is always preferable to a seat in the back. Free is nice, but that seat really is nothing to write home about. For someone to claim that a trip that long in Y is better than a trip of similar length being up front is like saying that hemorrhoids are enjoyable. First post after joining more than two years ago, by the way...

I guess I fit into the seat better, but I find LH C to be very comfortable.

"Diamond Avoidance", otherwise known as "Rollover Preservation"?

Indeed is "Rollover Preservation" if you prefer that term.

Could be my weight; could be my height. I didn't think the seat was well-padded.

CO BF seats aren't well padded either.

Don't be scared of it. It's impossible to resist. Just accept it for what it is.

I last had a BF seat this past Christmas morning and I felt more comfortable in that than in LH C. Again, totally opinion-based and I'm also not a good barometer given my height and weight.
