Thank you for all your responses! I guess I should have been a little less zealous, since JUST as I got to EWR, about 10 minutes after I typed out that post on the train, I got my EUA email. :D Still F1 though - someone must have cancelled or gotten rebooked. #2 and #3 on the list behind me appear to have the same last name, so that's going to be sad...
This place is CROWDED. (I'm at the C2/3 one.) Have a nice flight. |

I have a not-completely hypothetical question. Let's say a PAX is in the PC at T-30. Can a PC agent see the same things that the GA is seeing regarding the standby list, and, if so, can the PC agent in a sense "preempt/assist/augment" the GA by giving out the upgrade to the PAX (s)he is watching? Or is such a thing impossible or verboten?
I have been known to call the SFO PClub to ask the agents to pass out new boarding passes so that the customers are aware of their new seat assignments, if I do this an hour or two before flight time. The PClub agents will not be allowed to do the actual upgrading. At the T-30 mark the gate agent should be locking down all computers except for the gate ones. |

What a crappy gate agent. And talk about a mess on board moving around people and their bags.
I've encountered her three times now and all three times I received a battlefield and had to leave my :rolleyes:aboard back at the exit row. When we start our decent I'll downgrade myself so I don't have to go against the flow to get to my bag when we arrive at the destination. |

BTW, next time you're futzing around at work -- can you please take a gander to see if I've achieved CO:-:. (if it won't get you in ). |

They're never allowed to do that, are they? And a follow-up "protocol" question: Does a good, professional GA have any annoyance if contacted by the PC regarding an impending or potential upgrade, or with the BP being handled by the PC?
I don't have any problem with the PClub agents calling me with questions about the potential for upgrades or the flight itself. Gate agents have more up to date information about the flight, possible mis-connects and a 6th sense about what's happening. No one should mind being asked a question or receiving help with passing out new boarding passes. |

I don't remember if your OP account will tell me if you are a :-: or not. If you are flying, the FA prelim report and final report will indicate this information. I'll check this out on Monday night and will PM you with details of what I can or can not see. |

The only people that should be handling the battlefield upgrades are the Red Coat in charge of the area/flight and/or the gate agent....No one should mind being asked a question or receiving help with passing out new boarding passes.
By the way, a quiet Sat. afternoon is a good time to thank you very belatedly for your help in taking away my panic a few months ago when I thought that I was going to have to go thru security with no documentation. Your insights into operational issues are as important a contribution to this forum as are Mr. O'Leary's to issues of policy or irregularity. Thank you. |

Hello Box!
I have been absent for a few weeks. I've had the month from he!! working - it's been miserable, dreadful, wicked (awful, not awesome) and I'm so glad I can stay home next week and catch up with all my reports. Off to The Palm DO in a mo. Just waiting for Mr. Brit to stop beautifying himself :D, so we can run for the train. Will check in tomorrow - someone will have to bring me up to date with all the happenings in the Box while I've been in la-la land. Looking forward to tonight. Intend to have some fun. |
