I here ya, but it would be nice for one of these longhaul LCCs to do well. From this side of the pond I think they need to link up with one of the domestic LCCs a la the Southwest/Icelandair relationship of years past.

I was rooting for Oasis Hong Kong. Legacies intermittently matching their biz fares would have been. ^

I agree, but one needs to imagine that TPAC is a lot tougher to manage given the stage lengths to the left coast.

HEllo... looks like TSA is after a LGA bound person. They were at my gate this morning as well checking bags. Way too many bags on the way to NYC! See ya in a few hours!!

Greetings from the IAH E PC, where a lady 20 feet away is yelling into her cellphone about her trustfund and her holiday to ACA.

Greetings from the Lexington / Keeneland / Woodford Reserve Do. Sitting here at the racetrack with Sweet Willie, Italy98, herb687 about to go to a handicapping seminar. Had a nice tour of the TGV broadcast truck earlier.

Air Asia has service to London (STN, IIRC) and Australia from KUL using 330's and 343's. Can you imagine being crammed into one of those slaveships for a 12-hour flight? At least they offer a premium seating option now: the 343's have recliner-style J seats, while the 332's have E+-style seating.

The benefit of these airlines is that their appearance on a route often means reduced prices across all carriers, the end of min stay requirements, and one-ways priced at half the cost of roundtrips. Not saying I would fly one, but would definitely take advantage of the collateral fallout.

The Southwest Effect is a wonderful thing!

On a side note, it is amazing at what some Euros will go through to get a cheap flight for their holidays.

A bit of sunrise drizzle here in HNL this morning. But the sunrise is looking nice over top of Diamond Head. Time to go grab my camera.

With the exception of HNL-USA it seems like one could do an around the world trip on LCCs.

A scholar such as yourself could appreciate reading some of Princeton economist Richard Quandt's work on horse race betting. He asserts one can obtain expected returns of several percent. Per race.

The only forms of betting that can have positive expectation are those where payoffs are set by consensus opinion: racing animals, poker, jai lai, and, of course, financial markets.

Handicapping tip of the day from me is bet to show whichever horse is wearing green colors in the 5th race. That's probably as good as what you'd get from the tipsters. Now, off to join the Day, already in progress.

sbm12 did you get down to Duke's? I always go when I am in HNL to get a lava flow there, feel the breeze and stare at Diamond Head! Man, I have the itch for the islands right now! Aloha!
