In other, glorious, news, I found a Chick-Fil-A that's only 15 miles from my house! :D How did NYC treat you? |
Assigning Seats for a Non-Elite
Can I make a call to the Gold line and have them assign seats for my fiance who is a non-elite? She is traveling on her own PNR - IAH-MIA and FLL-IAH. On neither of those flights were any seats available, except for premium seats. So, essentially, she is stuck without seat assignments until check-in. Any advice is greatly appreciated.

If you are on the same flight they will (or should) do it. If you are not on the same flight the benefit should not be extended to her. There was a reasonable uproar over this when they stopped allowing Plat/Golds to call in and do it but the general consensus is that this is the appropriate policy since just knowing someone who is elite shouldn't get you their elite benefits.

SPG has failed me this weekend. I'm in a broom-closet of a ground-level room at the 4P Ft. Walton Beach, facing the parking lot. There are multiple stains of indeterminate origin on the carpet, and the room smells of sodden wildebeest. Unfortunately, this corner of Redneckistan is fully booked for the weekend.

Sorry to hear that. But it is Fort Walton Beach, after all. Isn't that part of the Redneck Riviera?

It doesn't seem fair that a non-elite should have to go without a seat assignment because all of the regular seats are filled and only the "premium" seats are available. 9A isn't "premium" IMO, yet it is blocked out. She, nor I, are asking for any special seating. All that is wanted is a seat assigned - anywhere in the cabin. Is that too much to ask for?

I wasn't all that impressed with it. They have some nice bits, but otherwise it seemed very cheap to me rather than inexpensive. Hassles on every corner to buy something and few real nice touristy things to do, IMO. Then again, some delicious pho from a random street vendor, cinnamon sticks that were 3 feet tall and generally an all-around busy town. Reunification palace was eerie and interesting, but that and the post office were a half-day worth of stuff to see and then we were ready to get out of town. If there are more specific things you're looking to know ask and I can give you my version. s. |

Yeah...spent 4 days there in August '06. And baglady is either there right now or just left.
