I just looked again. It isn't a window - it is a mirror. I assume that the FAs needed a way to primp before going in to the cockpit or back to the cabin.

Using your cassette player
Maybe it's just me. Maybe I'm too progressive with my iPhone. But seriously - why do FAs still notify us that, above 10,000 feet, you can use your cassette or CD player. I can kind of see the CD thing, but cassettes? Really? The funny thing is that they rarely mention an iPod or MP3 player. Maybe it is just CHQ (which explains a lot), but it also happens on XJT and even mainline. Hrmmmm.
If one of you has a cassette player, I have a box of cassettes in the basement :) (Clearly, I have too much time on my hands today, and it is far too early to have a martini. Or is it...) John |

My guess is the FA memorized the "script" several years ago and it has just stuck with them. |
I will be sure to bring my cassette Walkman on my next flight instead of my iPod.

Yeah the cassette thing gets me too. However, in the last year, I've heard it a lot less often, and am hearing it replaced by "iPods, MP3, and DVD players." My flight attendant a couple of hours ago on Chautauqua didn't even mention cassette or CD players.
But there are those random people still out there with a 1990 model Sony Walkman and a bag of cassette tapes. I saw one at the gym about 6 months ago and just about died laughing when he hopped on the treadmill next to me and pulled out an old Walkman and popped in a tape. |

I actually thought of taking my film camera onboard to take pictures under 10,000ft. And to piss off the FAs. And to make people around me think we're going to crash. :o

Is it just me, or does Chataqua have some really nice lookin' FA's? I was on an ELP-IAH flight this evening (which took full advantage of the ATC hold at IAH for 50 min ), and the FA looked like she was about 24, and was really cute. She even had braces ^ and I thought that, although they are very strict, I think that they are much better looking than the XJT ones.....imho.

Nothing to say; just wanted to get my post count to 4,444.

Nothing to say...par for the course, sir.

What type of film camera? Even my 30 yr. old Nikon F has a button battery for the metering system, so technically I could not turn it on below 10,000 ft. Everything else on it is pure manual.
