Haven't had time to notice. Finals & 120,000+ pages of document review to be completed by Friday (35+ Bankers Boxes worth of riveting reading material) = One very stressed and brain-dead Otter.
I had a federal trial awhile back....some 30+ boxes of discovery plus Jenks act.... If I ever see a HUD-1 or a residential appraisal again it'll be too soon. |

Thank God you don't have to be sober to make flash-cards (only to memorize them).

I cannot believe some of the things I witness at my local Starbucks. As I write, someone is conducting a job interview for some sort of finance job about 10 feet from me. I am learning all about the candidate's background and former places of employment (various major financial institutions), as well as his current employer (a major financial institution). And I thought the people who used Starbucks as their "office" in which to give foreign language lessons or close real estate deals were bizzare. If anyone told them to meet them at a Starbucks for a job interview, I think I would politely decline and cross that potential employer off the list.

J. Edward...are you really in college? I think that you sit out there in the Hugo Chavez corridor and dream up excuses that make you seem smarter.....so, what gives?
But seriously though, what's stopping me up is two finals, a large project and helping take care of grandmother (read: unpacking & lifting). After the 13th you'll see me swing back into full posting mode. |

What's odd though being from the true south is the Waffle House does interviews at my local coffee shop, and there is the occasional Amway sales pitch. |

That might be fine for a job at the Waffle House, but I did not know that major financial institutions are now interviewing candidates at crowded Starbucks.

In other news, back when I was in college a friend and I stayed up all night cramming for an exam (law, go figure) and ended the marathon session with a morning-cap at Fourbucks before we sat for the exam. For some reason, unbeknownst to anyone, they were playing circus music at an obnoxious volume. My study partner kept complaining about how annoying it was so I looked at her, dead pan, and said "I don't hear any music." Someone at the next table over must have overheard and when my friend again made a comment about the music, he said, rather loudly to the person he was sitting with "it's really quiet in here today. They should put on some music." My friend almost had herself committed right there and then. And yes, we still talk. |
One of my first jobs was at Starbucks. Loathesome experience. Nothing quite like getting up at 4am to go serve marginal coffee to idiots who stand in line for five minutes, only to have no clue what they want by the time they get to the front of the queue (standing there, looking somewhat like mentally deficient bovines, as they ponderously hem and haw).
Oh well, back to Document Review! |
