San Francisco, New York and LA are all on the no driving list for me.
Absolutely can't stand driving in NYC though - no need for it, and don't want to share the road with the cabbies. I'm generally fine about not having a car in cities where there are other options. LA is one city I drive in all the time. My client there is not in an area where public transit is really a good option, and LA isn't laid out in a manner that makes it easy to rely on transit or cabs. It's generally no worse than driving in many other major cities in the US, and unlike cities like Atlanta, drives in LA tend to slow down some, pay more attention, and don't have cell phones glued to their ear while driving (granted, that's against state law in California). I'd actually rather drive in LA most days than Atlanta. I see far less crazy s**t on the highway there than I do here. |
If you have driven in Miami, you can drive almost ANYWHERE.
I would be leery of driving in Delhi, but I have friends that will drive me there :D I've driven in most every largish city east of Kansas City, with the exception of MSP and MKE. |

One time was on a Saturday afternoon with my learner's permit. That was interesting (thanks, Dad).

I'll be renting a car in Italy and that sounds dangerous enough already. :o:rolleyes::-:
They drive so crazy that the English bookies take bets on the death count over the holiday. |

you are missing out then :)
There is a lot that the rail won't take you to visit. found some really nice places in Fremont and San Jose :) And there's always Caltrain to get down there. But around the city itself, I'd prefer not to have to deal with a car and finding parking. It's really no faster, it's a lot more expensive, and it's just more stress. |

You didn't have to drive the Chesapeake Bay Bridge on a windy day in Driver's Ed. End of story.

I've driven in Boston - at 11 p.m. on a weeknight when there's no traffic.

Fremont and San Jose aren't exactly San Francisco. ;)

Boston is one city where I wouldn't attempt driving as a visitor without a GPS navigation unit. We had one when we were there a few weeks ago and wouldn't have made it on our short jaunt into the central part of the city without it.

Driving in Phillly can be interesting. Narrow streets and driving like crazy. Two lanes of traffic but no traffic lines and tourist messing things up by driving down the middle of the road. They get the message when a cab squeezes by them with an inch to spear.
To mess up everyones weekend in NJ and NY. Weatherboy has this posted. Weatherboy Weather is keeping an eye on an area of disturbed weather in the tropics. Forecast models are suggesting a tropical storm or hurricane may make landfall near NJ or NY late in the weekend. |

I had an encounter with a lady in a bikini and a mailman on my driving test. (Who among you can say that?) Also, the guy giving the test said, "This would be an appropriate time to use the horn." So I did. Oh, and I passed. |
MBM3 is a happy camper! Checked my upcoming reward stay at the Conrad HKG and noticed that we were already upgraded to a King Executive Peak View Room. Yeah, the harbor view would be great, but I am pumped to get the executive privileges for six nights.
Now lets see if Conrad TYO pasts the test - we are combining one paid night, miles from my account and miles from my wife's account for a three night stay. Heck, it confuses me! |
