Ways to alleviate boredom #237:
Obtain one hair-dryer and a tan, wide-brimmed hat. Then rent either a white Crown Vic or Grand Marquis from Hertz (they have an ample selection of Fords). Proceed to the nearest highway overpass, then park in the median, roll down the window, and point the hair-dryer at oncoming traffic. Enjoy. |

I think The Box should descend en masse on a certain Casino in ACY at some point. Any good fight nights in the near future, CM? They do have Boxing in ACY, yes?
ETA: Just checked the entertainment rundown for July to late Sept. - no fights. However: Nov. 21-22 at Taj Mahal: Terry Fator. America's Got Talent winner. No joke at all, the guy is phenomenal. Saw him once before and he is just amazing in person. http://www.acweekly.com/view.php?id=9102&issue_id=242 - headliner entertainment listing Joe Walsh's guitar tech stopped by my desk and needed a favor. I paid the proper respects and told him how much I loved the show, at which point he dug in his pocket and handed over two guitar picks with "JW" and "Eagles 2K8" on their sides. ^^^^^^^^^^^^ |

We're thinking about going to South America next year. What are some places that shouldn't be missed? Neither of us has ever been down there.
Actually, a ride on the rivers such as the Ucuyali and Amazon in Peru or Brazil would be #1, but that would be a whole 'nother trip which might be combined with Macchu Picchu, which I have not yet seen. |

Here's a situation and see what you guys think:
I'll be in Hong Kong for 6 nights and 5 days in early August. Well, the equestrian events of the Beijing Olympics will be held in Hong Kong, and there are tickets left for two events. And tickets are cheap! Only about US$10-15! No brainer, right? Well, problem is that due to the heat and humidity, all events will take place early or late. These two events with tickets left start are 6:30a to 10:30a. In the suburbs. And, due to security, they want everybody arrive at 4:30a. Which means leaving the city at around 3:30a (trains don't run that early either!) What a hassle... plus because the person I want to go to just cannot take off those days, I really won't have much fun anyways. And I know nothing about dressage. So, if I go, basically it's just so I can say "I've been to the Olympics" and nothing else. Will you do it? Right now, I'm just going to wait-and-see. Not going to order tickets for now. |
Pass. Get your sleep and watch the replays on TV.

In my case, I'm hockey fan and it was the first NHL participating Olympic games, thus I made all efforts to get tickets, then schduled the flights. In your case, you are in Hong Kong coincidentally at the time of Olympics, and happened to be able to get tickets easily, but no interest to the competition itself. It depends how you consider the value, rareness of Olympics in China. And after all, how you value I can say "I've been to the (Beijing) Olympics." |
... not to interrupt any on-going conversation in here but...
