First Box post of the day.

I'm hungry and there's no breakfast food here. Someone needs to go to the store.

Great - thanks for your effort.

You may also want to consider Sunday early afternoon (1PM start) games...
Although sometimes NHL changes the game start time to accomodate TV broardcast schedule, in a few week advance notice. :td:

Anytime. :D

Regarding your second point, those are exactly what I sought to avoid. I don't want the NHL to hold sway over an event that people are potentially coming into town for. And besides, I'm off Thu-Sat, and if I'm going to put it together, the least I should do is attend it. :p

In other news, the tickets did come thru, and I had myself a life's to-do list evening seeing the Eagles. The first album came out in 1971 and they sound like they haven't aged. Only two songs were left off the set list that I would have wanted to hear: no "Tequila Sunrise" or "New Kid in Town".

Did either of you gentlemen happen to see my idea for a whirlwind 36 hours in the ATL? If I'm landing at noon, it is safe to think that I could do CNN and World of Coke before the hockey game that night? If not, I would push CNN to the morning because the flight back to EWR is 1:45p.

Any advice appreciated.

ETA: Dunkin coffee rules.

True, but if I get a really bad craving for Shipley's I can always hit it up at IAH on the way through there.

And unlike Houston, Atlanta still has Krispy Kreme.

I made a quick run over to Decatur to Chick-Fil-A for a chicken biscuit.

I would think so. I've not done CNN, but have done World of Coke, and we were only there about two hours, if even that long. However, it might be cutting it a little close. Best bet is to not check any luggage, so you can avoid the sometimes long waits at the ATL bag claim, and head straight for the MARTA station in the airport after you get off the plane. If you can reserve tickets online for either attraction in advance, I'd recommend doing that. When we went to World of Coke it was an off day, not during the summer, and the line was still a little long to buy tickets. Tickets for World of Coke are also for timed admission, so you may get there only to find out it's going to be an hour or longer before you can get in. So it would help to have a time reserved in advance, if that's possible. CNN may have a similar setup, but I don't know, since I've not been there yet.

Linking mine, I couldn't resist. A warm Krispy Kreme just out of the fryer/glazer is just drool-inducing.

Is Shipley's more like Dunkin or Krispy Kreme?

oh hell yes. Bite me Adkins for killing Krispy Kreme.

CMike

The world of coke and the Aquarium are at the same place, and the CNN center is with in walking distance of that. The closest MARTA station isn't in the nicest area (I saw a blatant act of solicitation), but that is to be expected.

Both the Aquarium and the World of Coke have timed entry, but if you only have time to do one do the Aquarium. The World of Coke is ok...but at the end of the day unless you are really into coke the only thing worth while about the place is sample room. (sample all the world wide brands that coke owns)

The CNN center has studio tours every 20-30 mins IIRC, and they normally aren't very crowded.

Dunkin.

No MARTA will be involved - I'm doing this trip because it was my mother's idea to go to an away game, and she already booked Hertz.

I didn't consider the Aquarium. Neither of us are Coke fiends, so maybe that's the better thing to do. I also have to remember to build in some kind of non-arena-food dinner. Thanks for the idea - and yes, I'll be doing advance tickets no matter what we pick.

Is Shipley's the donut place that has a stand in the Express terminal in IAH?

Last time I went through there, there were literally dozens of people eating donuts. They smelled amazing.

Aquarium>>>>>>>>>>World of Coke.

The Hockey arena and the CNN center are in the same place, so that should be easy to do. There is a decent chain steak house, in the CNN center I just can't remember the name

There is a Ruth's Chris within walking distance.

But for true gourmet food in Atlanta you have to go to Buckhead or Midtown.
