So CO hasn't completely thought out the Check bag fee and the upgrade fee. I am traveling with a companion from IAH to SEA tomorrow morning. To ensure that she is checked in and all I did it for here this morning. I talked with her yesterday and she wants to check 2 bags most likely. When checking here in CO offered the upgrade for her first flight segment SAT-IAH. Normally the upgrade offered at $35 would not be something that i would buy for a short flight but with two checked bags she actually will save a little and get a drink or two on the way to IAH and then if I get upgraded and she doesnt (IAH-SEA) she wont feel so upset! :)

Congratulations!

I think I asked this the other day but dont recall a response from anyone. Have you ever been flying with someone where you start in different cities and then connect in a hub/city and fly on the same flight onward and try to put said person on the upgrade list in the originating city. I am flying TUL-IAH-SEA in the morning and friend is flying SAT-IAH-SEA. I am currently #1 on the list for upgrade and want to make her #2.

Yeah.

When I told the Canuck about how the meeting went this morning the first thing she asked was "do we have to move." She was quickly relieved to hear no. She went kind of bi-polar when she found out I'd be gone M - F for Sept. - Dec. and then 75% travel there-after.

She was disappointed she wouldn't see me during the week (we never see each other anyway) but then she began thinking of all the point generation that can be spent on the honeymoon.

The good news with this new job is that it's only intended for a couple years and then I'll transition into something (most likely) with less travel. And the west coast (SF or SD) is the next logical place to move to. ^^^

if all pans out for me now, I will have a hard two years of solid work then unlimited years of travel anywhere and everywhere I want for work all in the name of networking :D

Let me be real now, it will be WORK when I travel, but quite enjoyable work, as I love flying and I love networking and meeting people.

W Seoul Walkerhill. Great property.

Now I'm bummed I skipped over it when I was there. Maybe I can spend a night during one of KUL runs.

My friends and I use to take the stud finder and wave it across each other and say "nope, nothing"

The Vaio's are some of the best PC laptops I have ever used. I miss mine dearly.

I probably would be interested. I met the man when we went out there in the 70s and he happened to be giving the tour of his winery. He was an interesting and compelling guy who obviously had his entire life invested in making wine. The book can be passed to me the next time the CO flyers get together in NJ and ConciergeMike and I both find it geographically convenient.

I'd like to give it a read after monitor is done. I thoroughly enjoyed my tour of the Mondavi Estate last Labor Day weekend.

So noted, gentlemen. I might read it again in the meantime despite that I have four books in the queue - I've already read it twice. It's that good.

And now, as promised, excerpts from my Hotel Guest Interaction Hall of Fame...these conversations were either phone calls or walk-ups to my desk that I typed out after they happened. None of them are in any way fabricated or embellished.

CALL #1: Too Much Information

Guest: “I’m due to check out but I want to extend my stay; are you sold out?”
Concierge: “No, we are not; our rates are (xxx) and (xxx) plus tax.”
Guest: “Wow. I have a hemorrhoid and I can’t drive home. Thanks.”

WALK-UP #4: An Optical Illusion

(Note: The hotel lobby in question has lots of mirrors.)
Guest: “Where’s the escalator?”
Concierge: “Behind you; just turn around.”
Guest: “Oh, what a relief. I kept seeing it in the glass and didn’t know how to find it.”
