Where in Houston does she live?

And which airline did you end up buying the ticket on?

rent a car and save dear mother the trip?

Thought crossed my mind, but then I read this article: The Soaring Cost of Car Rentals

But seriously, having lived in NYC for the past 6 years (moving back in 6 months :D) I can honestly say that I am an awful driver. I opted out of driving misadventures in the Festering Pit by having my sister pick me up.

They left shortly after his description of avoiding the second seat charge on WN.

I feel very sorry for anyone ever stuck sitting next to him on any flight.

In the mid-80s that was the subject of a sports joke among Phillies fans:

Q - What do Michael Jackson and Ruben Amaro (the Phillies shortstop) have in common?

A - They both wear a glove on one hand for no apparent reason.

I was facing a car rate of about that amount for the 4th in LAS before the rental costs plummeted today - less than $30 a day despite almost $11 a day in taxes ...

She lives in Sugarland.

I booked on CO. Price was the same and the flight times were much better. And I couldn't pass up 4,888 RDM.

After reading that article, I got the impression that the car rental companies were just managing yields better.

In your example, jack the prices up for a holiday weekend. If the reservations don't come by the 7 day window, drop the prices so the lots doesn't end up full.

Absolutely - I was just suggesting that the text of the article doesn't mean that actual rates will necessarily be outrageous.

ETA - my car also comes with 5,150 FF miles.

:) CO Must start mainline service to Sugar Land Regional Airport to allow easy access for mom to pickup from airport.

I had an odd thing the other day in RIC, my car said it was $89 a day, but my e-rec said it was $38....and taxes were not THAT much, it said on it a % discount that was large, but did not break down the figures. I'd not seen one quite like it in my many rentals.

This is just not right:

I ended up with a confirmed rate for three days at $84.53 total, 2-5 July from LAS, 5,150 miles - no complaints at all.
